Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are clocked cars common in Ireland?

I'm browsing for a new car right now and everytime I see something that appears great value for its mileage and low mileage for its year, it's a private sale or small dealer. Am I being overly suspicious?

Seems like you are being over suspicious. Just because a car is being sold by a small dealer or a private seller doesn’t make it clocked. You should be doing all necessary checks on a car no matter who is selling it, but you shouldn’t just assume a car is clocked because its not a main dealer seller it. Private sellers and small dealers are always going to be cheaper and better value than main dealers. Doesn’t automatically mean there is something wrong with the car.

Covid would have knocked a massive amount of mileage off a lot of cars, have that in mind too when calculating.

If in doubt seek paperwork or call dealers where service work was done.
