    Good tune

That's the one John was accused of plagiarising 'Run Through The Jungle'

Went see Igorrr last night - Extreme Metal/Baroque/Glitch/Folk/Breakbeat. They finished with this.

    Sounded great

When I saw it I thought it was an 'Extreme' gig and I'd be kicking myself for missing that ha

Saw them about 30 years ago on free ticket - Point was half empty

It was only announced that they were going to be his guests earlier in the day. Disappointed.

Great show tonight from Death Cab for Cutie in the BGET. Transatlanticism to finish was something else. The support act were good too. Think they were called Slow Pulp.

I wasn't a huge fan, but now I am. They were brilliant. And their new album has a load of bangers on it. That plus the best of their other stuff was a great mix.

Some standing area would make sense..I think fully seated mutes the atmosphere somewhat.

Suede played there in October 2018 and they removed the first couple of rows to create a small standing area right in front of the stage (which wasn't sold in advance). It was obvious that people were waiting to make a break for the front as soon as the show began. I had a seat in Row C, which was the front row on the night, so I was able to get right to the stage. It was amazing. One of my all-time favourite gigs.

They had a good balance of material last night. I think they could have done with a bit of a standing area as well. Not really a dancer myself but plenty of people there looked like they wanted to.

Stiff Little Fingers were class in the Barrowlands last Friday night. The crowd were well up for it too. Brilliant venue.

They out on a very good show. Great night out and a great crowd. Bar service in the mandella hall is sh1te though

The new Mandela is very bland looking but the sound is class. Totally agree about the bar service. It's a joke.

Caught The Wood Burning Savages in the Limelight in Belfast last night. The setlist was heavily weighted towards new stuff. No bad thing. It's sounding pretty damn good. Really looking forward to the new album coming out.

Bob Log III tonight. I'll report back.

If you've not seen him before you're in for a treat. If you have, you'll know exactly what to expect as the set rarely changes much. Always fun though! I'd forgotten he was in the Bello Bar this Friday and now i've already committed to other (non-music) plans. Oh well...

It was my first time. Brilliant! Absolutely bonkers though. He was very very funny too. He knows his way around a guitar.

Razorlight in the Olympia. Coming up on 19~~~ years since I first saw them at Oxygen 2004. The definition of understanding the assignment. 80 minutes, 17 songs, the vast majority of them pre 2010, finished by 10.30 on a school night. Before I fall to pieces is still a world class belter.

Bought myself a ticket to Razorlight last night on the spur of the moment. Seat was crappy enough up in the nosebleeds but for €35 the night before you can't complain too much. Enjoyed the show. Took me back nearly 20 years! Wire to Wire, Before I Fall to Pieces and Golden Touch were great. Suprised me they played Golden Touch so early in the show.

Hozier last night was great. Such a pleasant guy who is a wizard on a guitar/vox smiling the whole time.

Saw The Music of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and The Rings of Power in the BGET tonight, it was enjoyable.

Sala Baker, aka Sauron, was the actor which introduced the songs (although he forgot one of the ones and in general didn't add anything to the show) and talked between songs.

Was it anywhere near as bad as the Portsmouth show?

Howard Shore is taking legal action against the show, that's how bad it was.

  • Registered Users Posts: 30,437 ✭✭✭✭Tauriel

    Oh I hadn't heard that.

It started off a bit shaky but did improve. Although it did feel like a dress rehearsal than the main show, which I heard others saying too as they were leaving.

To be honest, I thought that the orchestra was going to be way bigger. I'll be seeing the Magical Music of Harry Potter tonight so my expectations have been duly revised downwards.

Just Mustard 360 AV gig in the Spirit Store last night was a bit underwhelming unfortunately. The visual aspect just seemed like the lights upgrade you'd expect from a band two albums in on an upward trajectory, certainly nothing to be making a song and dance about. A bit of smoke, moody lighting and occasional strobes is not what i was expecting at all. Sonically, i didn't really notice the surround sound as i opted to be closer to the front as the stage is very low. Music-wise they were good but i thought last year's gig in the same venue was far superior.

I'm hoping next week's Button Factory gig is better. I suspect it might be more suitable to what the band are trying to achieve with this setup.

Going to Pepper Canister for first time tonight. I assume it’s unassigned seating yeah? Is there any bar there? Is it like St.Luke’s in Cork where people bring a drink from outside? Are there toilets?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,792 ✭✭✭Fanirish

    No booze allowed, dry venue.

first come first serve on seats

its a church so yes there is toilets

Gaz Coombes excellent on Friday night. Had an eight-piece band and really went for it. Came across as a sound man too.
