Sat in urine on the Luas this morning...

Got on the Luas at Trinity for my usual short hop up to Harcourt Street

Basically empty this morning (28th Dec 2022), so I proceeded to sit down, only to discover that I had sat in something wet

Jumped up and waited to get to the Job so I could use the toilets (I was hopeful it was a spilled drink)

Took the Jocks off and had a smell... It was Urine.

Had to wash the Jocks in the toilet sink (Office empty thankfully) and dry them with the drier

I'm kinda hoping it was an elderly person that had an accident, however given the pong and how cold it was I'd say it was someone absolutely locked from night before.

I'll never sit on the Luas again. Warning to everyone... check the seat before you sit in it!

Digusting did you inform the driver or Transdev staff so the tram could be taken out of service and cleaned also put in a complaint might get a €50 Leap card or something like that. I know I would.

A soiled bus/tram/train should not be in service. Now it's possible that it could have happened recently so might not have been picked up but if it was there since the night before that is unacceptable and clearly the cleaners are not doing a very good job.

Nasty experience.

It could happen on public transport in any city but thankfully it's very rare.

You'd wonder sometimes about the logic of using those upholstered seats. Many public transit systems use wipe down seats.

Something like this? I'd say that would probably work on the luas alright where most people stand.

The Brussels metro trams for example have soft leatherette kind of seats that are quite comfortable - much like a car seat or an office chair.

Seems like a way better solution than the fabric or the hard park bench stuff.

I never understood why the Luas has fabric seating. It must be the cheaper option as the same company that make those trams offer fake leather seating which is all I have seen on other trams from them in other cities.

Were your trousers/jeans not wet too, did you have to wash them, I actually would have washed my bottom too as the thoughts of another persons dirty wee on my freshly showered body would make me ill. I feel so sorry for you, you should have said something to the driver. TG you were able to go to a loo and nobody around. What a way to start your day.
