CE Scheme Contradictions

Morning & Happy new year all 😉

So a dilemma I'm getting conflicting information, with regard to CE Schemes if someone can enlighten me.

A person has started a CE scheme, some medical issues, decides to try it, a none physical role, Admin etc. Retains Fuel Allowance, moved from JSA 2 CE scheme. So far so good.

Has been advised by GP & Medical consultant long term prognosis not good on a number of medical issues.

Has enough reckonable PRSI contributions & would now likely qualify for Invalidity Pension or Disability allowance. Aged 55, lives alone etc.

Advice from Citizens information is to apply even though they have commenced CE scheme, this advice came directly from DSP, but on further investigation, see below, CE scheme opperational Guidelines. 🤔

It would seem a person on DA can actually take part in a CE scheme but a person can not apply for DA or perhaps IP whilst on a CE scheme. Am I missing something here, apologies for the long post, just wanted to explain the situation fully. It would seem contradictory for a person to have to come off a CE scheme, lose Fuel allowance, go on Illness Benefit, apply for DA or IP and wait months to be told they are disqualified 🤔

    Thanks for any insight....

Note 3: • Any person who started on a Community Employment scheme on or after 16 January 2012 is disqualified from receiving Widows, Widowers or Surviving Civil Partner's Contributory Pension. When a person qualifies for CE by virtue of this pension, the pension is stopped for the duration of their CE participation, and it can recommence when they leave CE. Their CE rate will be based on the rate they currently receive on the Survivors Pension plus €22.50. • Any person who started on CE on or after 16 January 2012 is disqualified from receiving Disability Allowance
