What was the large house at the entrance to woodland court across from cherry mount?

Growing up in the late 80s we used to think it was an orphanage but no one seemed to actually know.

We never saw anyone come or go and it always looked vacant but we never had the courage to wander up to it for a look.

That's the old house of Lionel Richardson, a world renown breeder of Daffodils. Its called Prospect House and it was a children's home in the early 90s. There is an old boards tread on it, don't know how to link it but search Prospect House and you'll find it, not much information there but a former resident has an email address linked, so might be able to tell you more.

The land where the Kilcohan housing estate is built was all part of Richardson's farm when I was growing up, I think Cherrymount was the same. They had a herd of Jersey cows and you could buy the milk up at the house, unpasteurised. The farm manager lived in the cottages at the front of Cherrymount. he was called Goldsmith.

The house itself is on Air B and B.
