Make up an event/race

The Black Oil

Just for fun. Any surface, any distance. Somewhere you know, or have visited. I was going to suggest Tramore beach when the tide's out, but they already have The Baldy Man, 8k Beach Run. The road from Tramore to Waterford city would be another, decent surface and flat. Part of my trip to the US last year involved a drive up to Nederland, Colorado. A bit more open scenery and it would be like a road you'd see on Top Gear.

The Waterford HM used to be a lap of the city, then out and back towards Tramore, before finishing on the track.

It's best course in my opinion.

Sandwell

Always though Howth to Dún Laoghaire, harbour to harbour, would make a great route. It's 25k or so. Maybe it's been done before?

Ive often thought Gormanstown (the Delvin river is the Dublin border) to Greystones along the coast would be a cracking 100k taking in Dublin coastal routes

Think there is an organised walk on St Patricks day for that route, out and back!!!!!!!!!!

Always wanted to run this, however id imagine it would ground the city to a stand still if roads were closed. I'll do it some day as a training run

Ran from Bray to St. Anne's one Christmas, about 20 miles from memory into a headwind 😆. We were supposed to go from Greystones but a trampoline on the track scuppered some folks from making it to Greystones.

Close the M50 for half a day and hold a Marathon on it. Down one side back up the other. Sure it wouldn’t be any more boring than doing races in the Phoenix Park all the time!

Devils bit mountain is actually outside Templemore in Tipperary. I actually ran a few cross country races very near it a good few years ago, But there is a good view of the Galtee mountain from it😉

Annie get your Run

Sherkin Island would be an amazing place for a race, it's quite hilly but beautiful and it's 5K long so race from end to the other. There's also a stunning section of the Kerry Way around Derrynane that would make for a brilliant trail event - maybe a swim run ending on the beach at Derrynane House which is my favourite place in the whole world. I hiked 10 miles of it earlier in the summer and had my breath taken away at every twist and turn with the beauty, tough underfoot though! One more, Slieve League in Donegal would be an amazing place for an event.

None of mine or fast and flat and I may have chosen them for their beauty!

• Start at the fountain entrance.
• Straight down the ground floor
• Up the first escalator
• U-turn down the first floor, around the customer services area
• Back to the escalators
• Up to the 2nd floor
• U-turn down the second floor, around the food area
• And back the way you came

Dublin Zoo at night. Limited entries so the animals wouldn’t be put off too much.

But I’d say it would make a great parkrun.

Add Fota to it and you basically have a Race series 😁

I always though the Great Western Greenway would be a lovely marathon. Start on Achill Island and finish in Westport.
