    We are looking for a second car for the house. Just a cheap run around.

    One of these is for sale not too far from us for just over €2k. It's the saloon version, so good boot space! It passed the NCT recently too.

    I went for a test drive and must say it was driving very nice. Light but responsive clutch, smooth gearbox, nice and tight on the road. Couldn't complain really.

    Only thing is that the blower is only working on the number 4 setting. Googled it and seems to be common with these cars. Seems it might be the blower motor resistor. Which seems easy to fix and not expensive.

    Other thing was the paint on the bonnet looked a bit off compared to the rest. But under the bonnet looked good, and all around it.

    Thoughts on the above and on these cars overall? It's ticking of lot of boxes and has a fresh NCT, and is a good price, so we are definitely thinking about it.

    Not many 2008 cars out there with long NCT these days. Can’t go wrong at that price.

    Also I’ve replaced the resistor on VW’s for the same issue and it worked a treat

    Thanks - yeah, decent price with the long NCT. Literally only passed last week. The blower only working on 4 is annoying, but seems like an easy and not expensive fix!

    Bought it anyway as we need a second run around car.

    Driving very well. It's actually nice to drive.

    Was nearly empty and threw €54 in and it's nearly full. Read online they give good mpg.

    It's annoying with the blower only working on the number 4 setting. Also noticed when you drive it the temp gauge drops a bit so the air isn't fully warm. Sort of only luke warm. Will try get that sorted soon anyway.

    Otherwise seems grand for 2k and a long NCT. Should do the job for a second car anyway. Hopefully the blower and temp is the only thing needs to be sorted. Only passed the NCT last week so you'd hope overall it's ok! Everything else works fine in it anyway.
