GBA SP Screen Mod Bork Up

Back at the start of 2020 I decided to try mod my GBA SP 001 and replace the screen with 101 IPS type. I only got as far as disassembeling it when covid hit and the GBA got shoved in a bag in the back of a drawer. I have now retreived said bag from said drawer and want to pick up from where I left but I don't even know where to start or what I'm looking at!

Would anyone be able to give me idiot proof instuctions on how to get this mod finished. I'm not even sure I have all parts needed. See photos below of what I have.

That glass screen is obviously a mismatch as its for a regular GBA and not SP.

I've no issue with uying any additional parts that are needed but perhaps a return to stock screen might be the better option?

Hmmm. I think the kit I got at the time was for the regualr GBA and not SP. Makes sense as to why i can't figfure out how to fit it 😂

Will order a new kit and post back here!

I fit one of them only a few weeks ago in my GBA, deffo different screens for the sp.

Have you come right? Have you installed the new screen? Has it made playing more clear? I'm not sure I really understand why you would do this mod when you can just get a nds?

Why not just get a NDS? Could be the first GBA the person had from childhood, they don't like the screen setup of a NDS maybe.

Exactly this. Lot of time spent on my gba back in the day. Although it was more post college years than childhood unfortunately!

Maybe GBA is more comfortable? I get cramps playing the ndsi most more intense games like diddy Kong racing. Using the triggers the hole time. GBA just needs a backlight.

I absolutely love the visual look of the SP but yeah I get hand cramps with it too on any game that uses the shoulder buttons.

Really do love the design of it though, ultimate little portable gaming device. Only bettered by the Micro! (although good luck to you playing any heavy text based games on that)
