Yeah, the draw is normally arund 7/1 so if you pick say 14 games (assuming you have at least two where there's no more than an outside chance of a draw), you need to 2 to break even and 3 to be up.

Rossies beating Tyrone I would say. Might keep Roscommon up.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Agree with ya 100% . I love the league best competition teams normally well met. Get to travel elsewhere adds to the craic of it. Most Teams have taken the league seriously for the last few decades. Normally a team who does welll in League is at business end of championship.

Most Provincial competitions seem to have gone the other way - disinterest/apathy.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Best competition in the Gaa by a country mile, I hope they never tamper with the four divisions and try and implement 1A and 1B codology like they have in the past. I know some weaker counties argue that the strong get stronger by playing against each other in the top divisions but the counter to that is instead of complaining they get their own house in order and the opportunity is there to climb the divisions. Colm Collins took Clare from Division 4 and has them in Division 2 for their 7th year, this in a so called hurling county. Derry came from 4 and are pushing for 1. Mickey Harte has taken Louth from 4 to 2 etc.

Like you said the ideal would be a home and away leauge played in the summer and Div 1 winners crowned All Ireland champions and cups for the winners of the other 3 as well. Your knockout all inclusive open draw cup competition should be your secondary competition like the FA cup in soccer.

This would all be a bit radical for the Gaa and the provincial councils wouldn't have it.

Good thoughts there , although the last 16 - 4 groups of 4 sounds very interesting in this years championship with the league in particular & the provincials to a lesser degree helping you get to the last 16.

Big comeback by Galway in the first half, down 3 to no score but rattle off 5 on the trot to go in with a 2 point lead, Comer off with a bad injury apparently early on.

Cork with a super first half to be 1-08 v 0-02 ahead v Kildare while 14 man Monaghan are in for a long last 10 minutes trailing by 10 in Kerry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,681 ✭✭✭✭ACitizenErased

Red card for Kildare, Cork in the driving seat still. 1-10 to 0-5 15 mins into 2nd half

Not sure were Kildare poor or were Cork great. but I will gladly take the away win by 13 points any day.

A very good weekend for the Rebels.

Rossies looking good now having played two teams that would have been expected to be around the top of the league, one more win and they'll surely be safe. Monaghan looking like they're in serious bother, their next game against Donegal is huge match for both of them. If those injuries to Comer & Finnerty are long term, Galway could be in relegation trouble as well.

    Watching Derry annihilate Meath.

2-14 to 1-6 after 64 minutes ….that probably flatters Meath.

referee also doing a hatchet job on Derry. Meath should be down to 14… a neck high clothesline with force is now only a yellow, apparently…

Mayo pretty much hammering Kerry in the first half, 2-08 v 0-03

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,940 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Jayus I enjoyed that Rossies v the orchard game. Was thinking beforehand would struggle to call a winner was nip and tuck.

Not sure if the Rossies improved defensively or was it Armagh’s counter attacking style that suited them? Normally I associate Roscommon with great attackers but very loose defensively.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

The amount of wnking around the Dubs and their few big trips out of Croke Park is painful.

Talking about the media now not the fans but the reminiscing being done over a league trip to Cork is ridiculous..

  • Registered Users Posts: 437 ✭✭TipsyMcStagge

Kildare somehow get out of Ennis with a much needed win but Clare should be ashamed of themselves 6 points up against 14 men with 20 minutes left and lost the lillies scoring 8 of the last 9 points.

4 a piece after around 15 minutes in Cork. Bit of a joke of a yellow issued to Maguire.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Yea some comeback by the Lillies when they looked dead and buried. They looked good v Dublin then rubbish v Cork so important they got some points on the board today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Not often a Div 2 game gets primetime Sunday slot on TG4. Dubs not great so far Cork causing trouble in the full forward line.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,314 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Cork using the kick pass into the inside forwards very well, causing problems eveytime it goes in and score a fine goal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Cork rip apart the fullback line again for a well worked goal. Dublin as open as ive ever seen at the back.

That was a fairly close call for the square ball, denying Cork a second goal, half a boot maybe.

Hurley is showing what he can do when fast direct kick passes are sent into him.

    Enjoyable, open game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Costelloe and Scully would want to get the finger out.

Dublin up by a point at ht,

Not much between the teams. Sherlock not doing what he normally does, been quite poor.

Cork have the Dublin full back line in all sorts of trouble but only have 1 goal, should have had 3.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Not a great Dublin performance. Cork look to have had played the better football but spurned a couple goal chances and the Dubs go in a point up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 258 ✭✭It is a Dunne Deal

That is an incredibly soft second yellow. A tiny pull on the shirt is not a second yellow.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,314 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

A thundering disgrace that MaGuire was carded and sent off for that - an absolute joke in fairness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

    Ridiculous sending off.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,515 ✭✭✭Luxembourgo

    As a Dub...

    That was ridiculous

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,314 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Yellow and taken off straight away, Not a bad decision given how soft they are being given out.

Sherlock off for Cork, has been off the pace all day in fairness.

    Dublin slowly pulling away,

You could see Maguire pull the jersey for a split second before kind of realising he was already on a yellow and letting go almost immediately. I didn't realise any pull of a jersey was a yellow. Either way it's ruined the game as Dubs well on top now.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,314 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Gannon booked for that....ridiculous.

    14 v 14 now

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

As is often the case the ref has evened up the playing numbers. Gannon stupid to get involved even if the Cork lad made the most of it.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,314 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

50 gone, not a single dirty tackle in the game, barely a tackle in truth but somehow 2 reds issued.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,994 ✭✭✭enricoh

Where'd they get this ref- was he at soccer before! Two of the softest reds I've seen.

    Corks dreadful wides costing them

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

The ref is going to sprain his wrist the amount of times he's flashing cards all over the shop.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,314 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Bullet of a goal for Cork.

    The sides are level.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Great goal Cork. Anyones game now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,619 ✭✭✭eigrod

That was a foot block. These officials are clueless.

McCaffrey to McCarthy. Over the bar. Music to all Dubs ears.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,619 ✭✭✭eigrod

    Awful miss by Hurley.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

    Woeful wides by both teams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,664 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

After 3 rounds of D1 (9 games) Connacht teams have only lost one game, and fill the top 3 places.

The one game that a Connacht team has lost has been to another Connacht team (Roscommon v Galway)..

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,314 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Where is he getting 7 minutes from?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Square ball comes back to haunt Cork for 2nd time.

Super score by Jack McCaffrey. Looks like he hasn't lost that killer speed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,619 ✭✭✭eigrod

Great game, fair play to the players because the ref was so far out of his depth.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,314 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

The few points that Dublin got when down to 14 ended up beinh the difference in the end.

A super save with the last kick of the game onto the crossbar stopping the winning goal for Cork.

A very enjoyable game which the ref did his best to ruin.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,584 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

Action packed game ends in a Hurley howitzer smashing off the crossbar. Alls well that ends well though Dublin come away with the points but with a lot of work to do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,485 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

The Monaghan Maor Uisce got a straight red card for kicking the ball away.
