Interesting numbers from Japan. They received the same number of asylum applications as ireland - 14,000 (despite having 25 times our population)

But the really interesting thing is they only accepted 303 people as genuine refugees out of that 14,000. That's a 97% rejection rate.

Shows you how a proper country operates. We are being so badly governed and administered it's unbelievable.

The EU migration pact will not effect those who have claimed or are living in the UK and come to claim asylum again in Ireland . The numbers will only increase as the EU will demand a quota that Ireland must take in .

it’s so depressing when you realise that our government hate us and don’t care about destroying our country. We live in a country that literally values Ukrainian pets over Irish people

now look at China with its population of 1.4 billion

They have less foreigners living legally and illegally than little Ireland

Do we no longer have a Fas scheme equivalent? We should give them the option to learn or severely restrict any aid.

Michael o'leary on radio this morning calling out the scam, people arriving in Dublin airport and flushing their travel documents down the toilet.

    He said they're not refugees

also that they do visa checks and take pictures of passports, so with some joined up work with the authorities they could clamp down on these economic migrants who are not refugees Link to clip https://x.com/irishmanirl/status/1802663734332063973?s=46

If anyone wants to contact their TD and Senators on the pact here is a sample you can use

    Dear …

I am contacting you to urge you to please seek some clarity on a number of issues relating to our potential joining of the EU migration pact prior to the Dáil vote tomorrow please.

There has been a serious dearth of discussion and information from government of what the practical ramifications for Ireland will be should we join this pact.

As I understand it, joining the pact will legally oblige us to take a share of the EU total of asylum seekers, which would number in the thousands and thousands. Given we have shown ourselves incapable of processing and providing for IPAs at existing levels (hundreds forced to sleep on the streets), surely agreeing to take even more (and at faster processing speeds than we’re capable of) will only contribute further to this crisis?

Furthermore if we cannot provide for or process these applicants adequately (as is the current state of affairs) we will be liable for fines in line with our GDP - given our GDP is grossly outsized due to the presence of so many multinationals we are opening ourselves up to equally outsized fines?

There is also the issue of Ireland and our Opt out under the Lisbon treaty, the possibility of exercising this has not seen sufficient discussion

I feel that for a decision with such potentially huge ramifications, discussion in the media and with the public has not been adequate to inform people of what the pact actually entails. A repeat of the situation post the recent referendums where it became clear that the government concealed advice and relevant information from the public should be avoided. Full transparency is the best course of action.

    Thank you very much

    Regards,

He’s being quoted on Today fm about his comments on the Aer Lingus pilots vote for industrial action from the same interview.

No chance they’ll mention his comments on the Asylum Seeker scam artists though. Doesn’t fit the MSM narrative.

Fair play to Pat Kenny, he seems to be the only broadcaster with the courage to have someone on his show who calls out the whole AS/ IPA scam for what it is.

I don't know if anybody was aware that local businesses and residents brought some pressure to bear shortly before the tents were cleared from Mount Street in May.

I've linked to the article in full but here are a few quotes from it:

"Residents and businesses in the Mount Street area of Dublin city are currently threatening legal action over the expanding migrant ‘tent city’ that is now taking up both sides of the road and the surrounding laneways.

Residents and businesses in Mount Street, Madison Court, Grattan Court, Grattan Court East, Grattan Hall, Power’s Court, the South Georgian Residents’ Association, and Verschoyle Court have now formed a network.

They want to see the encampment gone within the next month “to a more appropriate space of accommodation or interim shelter”.

If this does not happen, they will seek legal relief in the courts on the grounds that access, safety, privacy, and health concerns are affecting residents' reasonable enjoyment of their properties."

"They said local people who are renting are being forced to consider leaving, and that property owners can't rent or sell their properties."

"One restaurant operating in the area has said it will be forced to close if the situation is not resolved."

“With the current situation for the last 14 months it’s just horrific for our business. Our profit is down over 60pc and our customers are nervous coming in to us, our staff are very nervous and we have to come up in the evening and help them lock up,” said Ruth.

“There’s no answers whatsoever from Government and Dublin City Council who still expect us to pay full rates, full water charges, and full street furniture charges.”

“It’s just not feasible to keep going at this rate and unfortunately if things don’t change we’re going to have to close in August,” she added."

The fact that they tried for over a year to contact the government and were ignored, pretty much says it all really. Utter contempt and disrespect for the people of Ireland from our public servants and elected representatives.

I remember years ago seeing the wife of the then American ambassador being interviewed on the Late Late Show. His term of office was up and they were going back to the States. Gaybo asked her the usual question about 'what do you think of Ireland, what made the greatest impression on you?' and the audience expected to hear the usual answer about how friendly we are, how laid back, our great sense of humour etc. Gay looked genuinely puzzled and a bit shocked when she said that she was most struck by the fact that 'the Irish have no sense of outrage' - and she was right. A few of us have, but not enough of us and we tolerate far too much for too long, priding on ourselves on how 'easygoing' we are. We're just too bloody nice for our own good and this is the result.

The system is completely broken and until it's fixed, we need a zero asylum policy.

    At long last.

Asking people to leave isn't enough, in many cases.

We need to stop giving out leave-to-remain to failed AS.

Hmm, why does the following have me now thinking that people are being offered money to voluntarily return. You know, the people who already know Ireland to be a soft touch...?

…"The number of people who have availed of voluntary return has more than doubled this year, from 97 last year to 227. The Department said a voluntary return programme assisting some in reintegrating in their home country is “faster, easier and cheaper than forced deportations”.

I’d definitely consider him something of an outlier on the issue. I listen to current affairs programs a lot while driving and to me he’s been the only one who seems to have contributors that counter the ‘open door, they’re all fleeing persecution’ nonsense.

Kinda understandable if you are living in a tent on the side of the street and someone comes along and says "if you leave voluntarily, you will get some money and flights home". I am sure a few will take up the offer the only thing is will it encourage more to come here knowing that if they endure a bit of hardship they will get a few quid in their pockets to leave.

This has been happening in the country for years with other groups. Even happens in companies where some people are paid to leave.

If someone is saying something you disagree with, label them MSM.

If someone is saying something you agree with, label them one of the few willing to speak the truth.

    Simples.

It is a policy of deterrence that compliments other policies of deterrence introduced in Germany, including extending the time period for detention and ending the announcement of deportations. I agree that these policies are probably insufficient in themselves but as with Denmark and Sweden policies of deterrence are increasing in popularity.

Don't be fooled. This will all stop once people are dumb enough to elect them again. It's all for show.

Likely not one flight will get chartered.

  • Registered Users Posts: 54,110 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Probably a better chance of UK's Rwanda flights taking off lol

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,635 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

Sinn Féin members must be livid.Their party has really been so badly caught out and now with the government tendering for charter flights for deportation as well

Their dithering on immigration is handing the government a comprehensive victory on the issue.

What's even more mind boggling is it's SF's core supporters that are most concerned about immigration.

That party is just incompetent beyond words.

  • Registered Users Posts: 54,110 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

Sure they're grassroots are anti immigration but the party doesnt listen to them which in part is the reason why we're seeing their dreadful performances in the Local and EU elections

A coherent opposition party should be destroying this government in the polls but we're not seeing it. When you're vague on policies such as immigration the voters find it hard to trust,

Government to arrange chartered flights to deport people.

Legislation to allow for the revoking of citizenship certificates is set to be enacted before the Dáil summer recess.

    (From RTE)

Suddenly the government is front and centre on the immigration issue. Sweeteners to push the EU Migration and Asylum Pact through? An early attempt to "buy" votes for the election later this year?

Both read great on paper but what will actually be followed through on. How many years of appeals costing who knows what are both measures going to generate.
