The Gazans don’t want to leave Palestine. They know if they do they’ll never get it back.

If someone seeking asylum is getting benefits, then they get rejected, regardless of deportation can someone tell me if their benefits (living arrangements etc) stop?

my own take on hearing that was that it was all talk from him…. It sounded like he was just plámásing us citizens or trying to. The proof as they say shall be in the eating, the ‘doing’ something about it. NOT talking about it.

if I look out the window and the place opposite is on fire, I’ll dial 999/112. I’m not going to stand there Leo style “ yes, there is a fire over there, that is indeed very dangerous, people could get hurt, we’ll have to do something about that, hmmm right. “ which is essentially all he’s doing to date.

acknowledging a problem, not wanting to deal with it so buying himself time, just paying the problem lip service. Hoping it keeps the electorate at arms length, for a time. No, ACT ! Do something about it, now. Really cannot stand the guy.. the worst Taoiseach the country and its citizens has endured by a distance…

Also, if he wants the benefits to whoever , reviewed. Basically he is the one that rubber stamped many of those benefits in the first place. Free accommodation, free healthcare, full social welfare …. Everything we get, they get…..😵‍💫. So erm….. just goes to show, he’s a mighty disingenuous individual but he’s had a lot of people fooled, glad his mask is rapidly slipping but he’ll slide away himself soonish. Watch :)

id say if a review is ever attempted, I say it won’t be…but if one comes to pass… they’d probably lose 15-20 euros a week… or something simply tokenistic so Leo can say..” nope sure look, we are reducing what they are being given now “

post war they’ll be arriving in their droves from Africa, Ukraine, everywhere, wanting in on the same sort of give away benefits…..and Leo will be feet up, retired or close to it, nice place, a few million in the bank, nice pension coming in…. He won’t feel a micro pinch of any of this….. how do we stop that happening ? Can we stop it ? I’m not sure….democracy ? Not feeling like it.

the greatest crisis in the country since 1921…. Did we have a Collins, Dev, Childers ?

    no Leo and Michael…. Ffs

Look even at Haughey, Lemass, they enabled great successes, great wellbeing and great upsurge in success for this country and us the citizens….. by working for us….. we just don’t have that leadership….. in times of great struggle you need leaders to stand up… we have Leo, shuffling around with that insincere smirk taking out of both sides of his mouth…. EU / Ireland is now on the map for pretty much all refugees or those looking to be protected …. Current situation is the template…

any reduction in assistance or limited policy is not being advocated in any serious manner by any political party…. I thought politics and politicians were supposed to work for those who elect them and pay them ? The CITIZENS

when you see some of them voluntarily going back for holidays… right, yeah, what are you fleeing from again ….if you can return to your homeland for a holiday you don’t require protection….

Every project, be it in work, sports, socially etc… fails…when the leadership is not good enough….

Ireland has now begun to fail, the country is changing rapidly and becoming an ill shadow of itself because of rank bad leadership, the worst since the creation of the state…

Maybe they're willing to risk their lives to see their family at Christmas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,895 ✭✭✭✭_Kaiser_

Nonsense. Dress it up whatever way you want but a genuine refugee isn't hopping countries to find the best freebies deal, or heading back to the supposed warzone they fled in fear of their lives for dentistry/medical work, or trips back to visit family.

Such people are economic migrants pure and simple, and that's how they should then be treated - with the different qualifying criteria and residency rules that apply.

If it's safe enough to go home to see family, go to the dentist, or for a Christmas break, then it's safe enough for them to remain there permanently.

Ukrainian Men are openly admitting to this fraud on Ukrainian face book groups too.

This Country is an absolute piss take on taxpayers.

What happened to Varadkars "welfare cheats cheat us all" line a few Years back?

"Swimming rivers and faking illness to escape Ukraine’s draft"

He discovered at least six Telegram groups - with membership ranging from 100 to several thousand people. He says they offered a range of services, from adding pretend children to his family, to the most expensive option - the medical exemption certificate, known as the "white ticket" which would allow him to leave and return to Ukraine whenever he liked.

He was told it would take up to a week to make, and would cost him about $4,300 (£3,472) - the price included a bribe to the official making the ticket.

Their “homeland” is mainly Egypt or Jordan.

Their grandfathers arrived in what is now Israel and Palestinian mainly between the two would wars - brought in by the rabidly anti- Semitic and ally of Hitlers final solution Mufti of Jerusalem Haj Amin al-Husseini.

He brought them in to counteract Jewish immigration at the time.

That architect of international terror Yasser Arafat was born in Egypt and his Arabic surname translated as “the Egyptian”

interestingly, as well as inventing international terrorism he also served as an example to his Palestinian leadership successors in siphoning off monetary aid from the credulous international community. His estate was about €8 Billion!

UK, France, Germany, Italy all in the process of legislating for stricter immigration systems. Denmark, Sweden seem to have have had enough too.

Good to hear if done right and hard.

We'll likely follow suit in 2or 3 years time

Services already bursting at the seams, but lets add another couple of hundred sure. What this government is doing to small towns and villages throughout the country is absolute bloody disgrace!

Sad situation but great to see people starting to protest against this madness. Yet again Oliver O Gorman Cromwell behind this again.

The chart which ranks Ireland 22 on the list does not take into account population sizes of donation countries.

Ukrainian ambassador now on NT, asked if she senses a change in Irish attitudes to Ukrainians "has the welcome waned?"

EU plan a quadrupling of Frontex staff by 2027, up to 10,000.

Just a sidenote, but this same (2019) planned increase coincides with present changes in attitude across the continent, and if/when the increase is completed it would be around the 10 year mark from the 2015/16 immigration crisis. So 10-12 years, Europe did its part, and now its party over. Hopefully, lest this become a generational trend.

    Buisness Post today:

"Ireland will be responsible for a larger portion of asylum seekers per capita than nearly all other European countries under new EU plans, the Business Post can reveal.

The new Migration and Asylum Pact is seeking to radically overhaul the bloc’s approach to migration, and is expected to be completed in advance of the end of the current European political term next summer"

And with Sf at the helm this is going to be glorious.

    Yes,

Ah, isn't it great to have such "friends" in Europe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,668 ✭✭✭DebDynamite

    As per the article:

A spokesman for the Department of Justice said it was actively examining the new proposals, with a view to identifying how Ireland might best implement these changes should the government decide to opt in once they are adopted.

Is this another thing we have the option to opt out of, but decide to go along with it to look good?
