Last week Irish Independent journalist, Sinead Ryan, claimed on the Tonight Show that there’s “zero evidence” residents of asylum centres are "a danger to anyone”, just like Neale Richmond, she the fear expressed by local people was “entirely misplaced”, accused those who protest outside asylum centres of being the real danger.  

Facts. Crimes committed by asylum seekers staying in DP centres took place in 2023 alone. Keep in mind that all disturbances or incidents reported that have not gone through the court or that required gardai to attend the centers haven't been included.

• Nov/22 Gardaí confirmed to Gript of an investigation relating to a violent incident where a brawl between several male residents of the Wicklow Hotel DP spilled out onto the streets, causing concern among locals.
•  Jan/23 - A riot broke out between residents at the City West asylum hub in which a subsequent IHREC report flagged the Muslim period of Ramadan as a “flashpoint” for unrest. “serious incident had included “the use of knives, chairs being thrown, and other assaults”
• Jan/2023 - Six arrested in connection to a stabbing incident which took place in a Killarney hotel DP genre 
• May/23 a Georgian national – who authorities initially thought was Russian – appeared before Naas District Court bit a female Garda and attempted to ram a security guard with a vehicle after he was denied entry into the City West.
• July/23 Algerian asylum seeker charged for stabbing victim multiple times on Grafton St.
• Aug/23 Georgian asylum seeker, Ramazi Nalchutsrishibili, stabbed a fellow resident in an “unprovoked attack” at a DP centre in Bray.
• Oct/23 a Zimbabwean man wanted in connection to a triple murder had used a false name in order to claim asylum in Ireland. 
• Nov/23 Judge ‘not impressed’ with Zakarik Titouah, asylum seeker who stole from OAP's and after arriving in Ireland two months earlier 
• Nov/23 - An Egyptian man was brought to Wexford General Hospital following an alleged stabbing incident in a DP Centre in Gorey.
• Dec/23  Clare FM reported that asylum seeker, Khaled Hamama (23) assaulted causing harm to another DP centre resident in Miltown 
• Dec/23 Algerian asylum-seeker assaulted Garda and DP center manager, spitting a mix of blood and saliva in the Garda's face

Examples of asylum seekers convicted of crime in 2023:

• Pakistani asylum seeker jailed for 6 years for raping vulnerable, former partner beside their sleeping baby. Claimed to be fleeing due to “serious political unrest and fears for his safety”
• Eritrean asylum seeker accused of sexually assaulting two women, said he was ‘trying to make friends’.
• A Pakistani 'predator' who came here from the UK in 2018 and was granted refugee status despite a previous conviction in the UK from 2014 for sexual assault, violently raped one woman and tried to lure a second to his car in Sligo, jailed for 10 years. The reason he applied for asylum is due to his appearance (ocular albinism... he said is was “bullied and ostracised.”
• Afghan national charged with murder of a Romanian woman, a sex worker who was only in the country 6 months, in “vicious and frenzied attack” in Limerick
• Eritrea Woman who posed as a child (UAM) refugee charged with attempted murder of social worker. It was established that she was aged 24.
• A Congolese asylum seeker broke into the room of a patient and began masturbating in front of her leaving her ‘scared to scream’. In 2021, he was charged after a confrontation in a DP hotel for having a knife, and threatening to leave "blood on the floor". He's lived iin DP since 2014. This is the same lad who blamed his food being spiked with "sex tablets" for exposing himself in front of people at the Mount Trenchard DP center in Foynes in 2019. He got on that.
• Algerian asylum seeker in temporary accommodation in Cork jailed for sexually assaulting a 21 y/o woman. The victim who had been previously sexually abused as a child, attempted to take her own life. After the attack.
• Moroccan asylum to be sentenced for false imprisonment and assault of former partner after leaving her “covered in blood”
• Eritrean asylum seeker charged with sexually assaulting a female in a local bar, in Derry. He had traveled 'extensively' in Europe before coming here.
• Algerian asylum seeker charged for the sexual assault on a young girl while she played kick the can in Dublin park, in Ireland for 4 years & had no financial means.
• An Algerian in the country 11 months charged for the 'extremely violent' unprovoked attack on two women in Dundalk. Before coming to here, he spent 11 years in the UK.

I could go on but the examples are endless from 2023 alone.

I think it’s fair to say Ryan’s “zero evidence” claim fails to hold water. It's also safe to say that she will always find work in a failing Irish media. She even said she thought every resident Roscrea should be given a copy of Paul Lynchs ‘Prophet Song’, a dystopian novel or a leftist soft porn, depicting a mother of four trying to save her family as the “Republic of Ireland slips into totalitarianism.” I find it sinister that a journalist for a mainstream media outlet would so brazenly lie live on TV and was not instantly called out. And people like her have the shameless gall to accuse others of misinformation?

Evidence of individual crimes is seen only after they are committed! If there are no official statistics kept on a certain demographic group, then you will find no evidence about that foreign group committing any crime! When a crime is committed by foreign nationals and they are charged, they hide such important information, when they fail to mention the identity or origin of the criminal, we get 'Kildare man', 'Man', or 'shop worker' which is always accompanied by a stock photo when the crime has been committed by a foreign national. It has become a theme.

You're deducing that problems with services have been caused by 'too much demand'. But how do you know? It's just as likely government is to blame by simply not providing enough services. Also, this narrative bizarrely seems aimed at getting the current government off the hook and claiming immigrants are the problem.

Tired of this rhetoric. I have most of your brothers in arms on ignore list but somehow you continue.

The vast majority of those in healthcare and other specilist industrial sites got a visa to enter Ireland, educated to a very high level and had a qualification we required. More than welcome to come and immediately contribute to the tax system and benefit from it. They are therefore not a drain on resources and as taxpayers, have to put up with the same nonsense the rest of us do. That's the only people we should be accepting.

But time and time again, you and your brothers in arms here link these tax payers to the uneducated migrants arriving with no passports looking for a free handout. They are not the same.

The vast, vast number of posters here keep showing they are more than happy to have those via the visa system and not the mass migration you want. It's called control. That's all people ask for. Checks and balances.

But you and your brothers in arms/NGO's etc like to paint all those that disagree with your view as racists. You have actually collapsed the value of the word and it's dismissed in a heartbeat in conversation as a show stopper.

There is an act since 2004 that you can be fined and get 1 year in prison for arriving with no documents. 1 prosecution in 2022 !!

Agree with Government policy and encourage them to bring in more refugees . Gaza the next country to concentrate all the effort on. Tell the government they need to start own door accommodation and ramp up the effort on modular homes to cater for those who will come . Why are people stating percentages of foreign nationals working in hospitals.

Has anyone here complained about trained and skilled migrants coming here to work and support themselves and add to our society.

Bottom line is if you're coming to work, support yourself and pay your dues your very welcome.

If you're coming to be housed and do nothing but live off benefits ,we have enough of these of our own. Timescale should be set for all foreign nationals for gaining employment.

Immediate deportation for any foreign national committing certain criminal activity.

That's why documentation on land of origin and past offences is crucial. No migrants or refugees should be let enter the country without identification.

Section 11 of the immigration act of 2004 it is an offense to disembark in Ireland without valid travel documents......

So it's illegal to enter Ireland without passports or other travel documents.....

what about we changing from a glass half empty attitude to glass half full attitude eg the delay in the construction of a lot of buildings /physical infrastructure is the shortage of labour and the cost of same is due to the same reason. So why not encourage these ‘ uneducated migrants’ to develop some skills needed in the construction sector

This old spiel about Irish immigrants is getting tired, apples and oranges.

They emigrated to countries which, by and large, had the capacity to absorb them. Rightly or wrongly they had no state handouts, no supports and had to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. No NGO industry apart from their own fraternal organisations. And there were groups who wanted them to stop coming and go home.

So called "undocumented" Irish knew the visa rules but chanced their arms and chose to ignore them. If they get sent home that's too bad.
