Small home insurance claim

Would anyone know what impact making a claim for between €2000 and €6000 would have on house insurance?

Would it cause a steep increase in the policy or would it impact on future claims?

Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated!

It won't make much impact. You may see an increased premium, but not the type of increases you see in motor insurance

It won't impact on future claims but you will be stuck with your current insurer for a few years because nobody else will give you a quote with a recent claim. Hard to say what effect it will have on next year's premium but you can be sure it will go up! For a claim of a few hundred, you might be as well off taking it on the chin to preserve your clean record but for the amount you mentioned, I'd say it will be worth lodging a claim.

Nonsense. It's quite different to motor.

We had a claim on a block policy and moved insurer at the next renewal. New insurer was happy the issue was resolved and was unlikely to recur. Premium was actually reduced too.

Thanks for that. Hopefully it will be the same for us.
