I’m unclear where exactly this picture shows. Can you take a photo from further away.

either way that’s not a professional job. Get him back to do it properly

OP, your post makes no sense, are you saying the house was rewired? Any pictures of the rest of the work?

That's terrible workmanship. Picture belongs in the wtf thread.

There's a pun in there somewhere about cutting corners... 😜 or not!

Take some pictures, send them to RECI or ECSSA whichever your electrican belongs to and ask for their opinion

Yes, the house is old and apparently the wiring was dangerous so it was re-wired, priority boards added etc

i will add more pictures when I get home, very disappointed with the finish.

what could he have done to make it neater? Used different conduit? Can you conseal the wires around corners ??

He could have drilled them, or at least completed the trunking. Do please add photos and we can advise further.

Did he provide a certificate/bill which had his details on? If you can obscure both your and his details then you can upload that also.

He should have drilled through the wall and stayed away from the frame altogether

Yikes, looks like it's going between the top of two doors (photo rotated)?

Would've looked far nicer just using nail clips. https://www.screwfix.ie/p/tower-white-flat-cable-clips-0-5-1mm-100-pack/12272

If they (as someone mentioned earlier) literally cut corners like that, you've really got to question what the standard of work behind the scenes is like.

As someone's already said, find out their RECI/ECSSA registration info which they're obliged to show you. If they don't have it, that's even worse 'cos I believe it's illegal these days to work on wiring without being a registered contractor.

If you're not bothered reporting, you can unclip those bits of trunking and remove them yourself (put a pen in the gap and angle it 'til it pops off.

    It is what it's.

There is flexible conduit, that same rectangle conduit could be miere-joined @45 angle or even joined @90, there are conduit systems that have 90 angle parts(search floplast)

  • That’s appalling and the wire in the door hinge is possibly even subject to mechanical damage.

That is pure laziness and shoddy work. Turn the picture sideways you can see its going through the top of the white door and then over some other unit.

If this person was an electrician they should be ashamed of themselves.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

could be a thick stone wall, so drilling might not have been an option. Don't see he even bothered with the little bits of trunking, would be better off with none!
