Maximum payment achievable per acre

A family member is looking into leasing 50 acres,it is coming right enough as it is a family deal,what is the maximum payment you could get on 50 acres, it’s naked land and eligible for the disadvantaged scheme and he is a young trained farmer, also if the acres scheme reopened how much could he get on this scheme, he wouldn’t have any interest in the organic scheme

Go talk to your local advisor Teagasc or Private. For €50/€60 they’ll give you a more accurate idea

I assume he'd have to apply to the national reserve for "new" entitlements, would he?

He's ticking one box if he's a young trained farmer but there are others too such as being a new entrant (never had his name on a her number) to farming.

There's a few aspects to work thru so as said above, a chat with an advisor (and maybe several chats!) would be the safest bet.

Unfortunately he can't qualify for acres .Land would have to be in his box in 2021 .This would be a serious loss of land is in priority zone

Yes I think the young farmers scheme is around 125 an acre and the disadvantaged scheme is around 35

The scheme gives max of e7000. If you are in priority zone it's e10500. This is only in certain areas mainly ,H.en barrier and certain commoners areas.The problem is needs to be in your 2021 bps application

Only an advisor trained in acres can tell you this. Land has to be scored. There are measures that can be done to increase payments. e.g. free planting, hedge maintenance

Darren Carthy gave an example at a presentation last night where a farmer on 90 ha of enclosed commonage was capable of drawing 40000 in the new CAP with all the bonuses and going into Organic

Is your land enclosed/ fenced. Hill land seems to be made for the new CAP .

You'd have to have two seperate enterprises unless you're putting the whole farm into Organic

Ya, all the mountain is fenced. Very easy run it in a separate way to the grassland. Food for thought anyways if it does open up again.

If it's common age.There must be other sbarehold ers. All must be in organics to qualify

Just a pont of information in the new payment scheme you will automatically get greening without any entitlements and Criss on all your HA's if you have one entitlement.

Criss is about 43/ unit and Greeting 77/ unit
