Outdoor LED floodlight from halogen light

Hi all, plan on changing my old halogen lights to LED. Was looking at a few led lights and I noticed they are prewired wired with an earth light unlike the holgen used to be. Is this needed to light them through the light switch or for intended use of they were to be plugged in. Basically do they have to be earthed to…

I'm confused, try that first part again?
Any outdoor accessory which has a metal shell should have an earth. Do you have earth running to the existing halogen lights?

Yes sorry opened up one of my halogen lights after and it's earthed. They weren't pre wired but there in donkey years.
Can change them out now, hopefully the LEDs will be a good job.
