Best used Japanese car model from €7K - €10K ?

Friend is moving to Ireland and she asked me to recommend a car. I know a mechanic who fixes cars and they said Japanese cars are the most—not a controversial opinion. So I want to find out which is the best option (or options) for her. Obviously having like six options isn't ideal, because that's where I'm at now. In your option what would your say three options be in terms of best choice to least best choice. Or if you have a single option you feel is the best.

Most Japanese imports.

Check that her licence will allow her to drive here and that insurance wouldn’t be exorbitant. This is the most important thing to establish first.

I think only 4 Jap imports have no immobiliser. Vitz, Aqua, Fielder, Demio

And I don’t think OP is referring to Jap imports. Just Japanese cars in general

Loads of used as new low mileage VW Polo's being imported from Japan both manual & automatic. All are high spec similar to UK spec. But being VW not the cheapest but reliable.

I would imagine with the increased targetting of certain Japanese "grey" imports here nowadays by joyriders and thieves, insurance premiums will no doubt start rising on them if not already. Still plenty of used Japanese branded cars here to choose from that were not originally imported second hand from Japanese - Toyota Corolla and Yaris, Mazda 2 and 3, Honda Jazz and Civic, etc. If she needs an automatic then that reduces the options however where the majority available will have been imported second hand from Japan.
