LG OLED55C24LA + Sonos Beam - is it needed?

Hi Guys,

Looking for a bit of advice re a new TV purchase - am looking to change TVs and am zoning in on the LG C2 55" which looks great and I have another LG in the house which has been a fab buy. I was also looking to add a Sonos Beam to the package as I have a few Play 1's which I find are perfect.

I was in a retailer over the weekend looking at the TV and the sales guys said there is no need for a Sonos Beam with that model LG as the AI enhanced sound is as good as a sound bar. He also said you can't get DTS through the LG and Beam set up.

Do you guys have any experience of a Beam paired with this TV; is the additional cost warranted and are there any issues playing DTS through this setup?

Any guidance greatly appreciated!

Hi Setanta.

The 55C2 is an amazing television and is very popular.

The Sonos Beam will add more bass over the speakers in the TV and the Beam does really sound well.

I use a Beam at home along with my 55C1 and they really work well together.

Don't get me wrong the speakers in the LG are good but the Beam is better.

As of a recent firmware update, Sonos’ soundbars now support DTS but only the basic compressed version, not the full lossless DTS-X and DTS-HD MA.

The 55C2 is currently priced at £1199 / 1349 Euro

Hi Kenny,

Thanks for getting back and delighted you confirmed re the Beam - I was determined to get one! I presume adding two existing Play 1's as surrounds would enhance it even more?

I'm not ready to pull the trigger yet as we need to get new furniture for the TV to sit on but if it's OK I'll drop you a PM once we have that sorted?

Adding in the two Sonos Ones will allow for surround sound.

I have two of the older Play Ones connected to my beam and the Sub Mini will be my next purchase to finish off the system.

Thanks for the post.

Both are great subwoofers but the larger I feel would fill your room better. Both can go as low as 25Hz. The larger uses a different make up of its drivers to product a more controlled base.

The smaller sub is handy if you don't have a lot of space and still want good base. It's my next purchase to pair with my beam.
