What voltage should the power supply be? There's nothing stated on the caddy.

3.5 HDD usualy 12V and about 1.5 - 2A

2.5 HDD would be on 5V as they should operate from USB connection power

You can make some guess from the actual power barrel shape, but it won't be that accurate. 12V centre positive is probably the norm but no way to be sure without it being written

12DC seam good, providing jack does match the port on the enclosure.

1000mA - this addapter is rated for 1A only, if drive pull more(i suspect it might) it will be disconnecting and/or adapter overheating till it burn

The connector fits. It might work long enough to get the documents I need off the drive.
