I'm beginning to suspect it's Moriarty that's been repurposed to serve as the AI sentry. They explicitly state AI, but also refer to it having illogical flaws. In turn Moriarty might have reassembled Lore as his substitute for Data and entertainment derived from him.

The resolution of Ro's arc and her interactions with Picard are a good example of how much better the writing is compared to the first couple of seasons.

I would say they are prisoners in Daystrom.

There's a point, it's played off as a bit of a joke in Lower Decks but it is implied that Starfleet have a prison for corrupted AIs, and TV prisons are always there to be broken out of.

One of its main departments is AI too. Maddox was high up in Daystrom.

This is the first time I've actually re-watched episodes of STP ... ever! It is so much better than the previous two seasons.

But as others are noting, there are some minor issues. We've already had the question about why haven't they checked Jack's and Jean Luc's DNA to establish once and for all if he is the father. They used to test DNA for fun in TNG. 🤷‍♀️

But anyway, in my re-watch of this episode, Beverly was doing the autopsy on the changeling. After she cuts into the arm, she then scanned it and says:

"Curious. No DNA represented whatsoever and yet there's blood-like plasma."

So the changelings can pass the blood test and the body scan that 7 mentions.

Why not test everyone's DNA FFS???

We see a double helix in the end credits a couple of times, so there must be some relevance.

Well that was pretty good. Great to see Ro Laren again and brilliantly played. That was a surprise (At least to me.) When they said someone was coming over via shuttle, for some reason I was thinking of Moriarty. Made no sense but then that would be inline with the show.

Sure, you had Raffi and she was just as annoying as ever. Certainly when they fist go back to bladerunner planet. And there was no real tension wit her fight with Worf (Did anyone REALLY think he was dead?)

Shaw was as great as ever. At the start I was waiting for him to go "Well, now that's all sorted... get the F*CK off my ship!" (And he'd have been right).

I like the idea of Starfleet being infiltrated right to the top.... But not on this series. Because this leaves us with 2 options:

1: They solve this long-gestating plan in a couple of episodes ala-Burnham.

2: This leads us to another season of Picard.

Neither of which I want.

However Ro's ship.... UGLY UGLY UGLY and, yeah, they can scan for every little thing but a transporter doesn't think to check for DNA of the organic material/person it is transporting? Not to see if there was any DNA damage done during transport but... y'know... making sure this person HAS DNA?

I don't think exactly that will happen but I think people are putting way too much faith in this season being a massive departure. This is after all the season that began with Beverly protecting Picard's secret child with a pump action phaser rifle.

Jacks dreams are looming over the show like a big Red Angel or Mass Effect aliens for me.
