Gen 3 or Gen 4 pcie SSD upgrade?

I've got an Acer laptop using intel 1135-G7. I want to upgrade the storage. I don't know whether to go gen 3 or gen 4. Obvs gen 4 is more expensive but i'm mostly concerned that I've heard that the gen 4 runs hotter and the laptop is already loud enough so I don't want to increase the noise

id go gen 4 it will run faster , you dont need high end gen 4 . what i would look at is you fans and clear them out as they could be why its running hot

Thanks for that. I've already returned the laptop and acer "fixed" it however it doesn't run any quieter. never buying either another acer again or another laptop that I haven't heard running first

your one is very thin and had an nvidia card . you would be suprised with the amount of dust build up that can build up quickly . especislly when your device is so compact if you need it quiet run on power saving if your not doing much
