Channels in different orders on Sky Go app and Sky Q box

    Hi,

I may be asking a daft question or doing something wrong, but bear with me. I noticed this a while back when recording stuff using the Sky+ app (and after getting a prompt that the Sky+ app is to be discontinued, also on Sky Go).

Basically, the tv guide on my Sky Q has channels in a different location than in the Sky Go app. For example, on my Sky Q box, RTE One HD is channel 101, RTE 2 HD is 102, BT Sport 1 HD is 413 and BT Sport 2 HD is 414.

But when I go to record stuff on the Sky Go app, channel 101 on the app is the SD version of the channel of RTE 1. Channel 102 on the app is RTE 2 SD. Channels 413 and 414 on the app are the SD versions of BT Sport 1 & 2. The HD versions of those channels on the app are 801, 802, 870 & 871.

Obviously, it means if you're not thinking about it, you'll end up with, as I did tonight, a SD recording of the match. Or to put it another way, recording channel 101 on your app won't result in channel 101 on your Sky Q box being recorded.

I know Sky put HD channels down in the 800s, but it seems odd that the channel listings on my tv and the app I use to record the tv wouldn't be the same (unless, again, I'm doing something wrong, which is more than possible). Any solutions, or is it just one of the quirks of dealing with Sky?

    Cheers.

It's not just you. Just tested there now too and you get rte 1 hd at 101 when the app is connected to the q box and only SD when not connected.

From experience, raising this kind of issue with sky was like banging your head against a wall. To add further confusion, the HD versions of at least Sky's early channels 106-108 etc do seem to show either way.

It happened to me too OP. HD swap not implemented for certain channels when not connected to own LAN but not sure why and there’s no pattern to it.

Was the same on the sky + app need to record the SD version in the 800's
