Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Tie rod replaced and wheels tracked issue

    Hi all,

Have a 08 CRV. Failed NCT on a worn outer tie rod.

Replaced it this morning, noticed the steering wheel was sitting right when going straight, and that it pulls to the left, didn't think much of It as it the missus car and I wouldn't drive it much.

Went and got the tracking done.

Steering wheel still the same and pulls to the left also still.

Missus drove it and said steering never sat right before and never pulled left like it does now. It used to a small bit but not as much as it is now.

Something I could of messed up with on the tie rod? Or tracking?

    Thanks

Did you count the threads when you removed the old joint ?

As in how many threads were left exposed behind the locknut, if not you have probably offset that sides tracking.

Go back to the place who tracked it as it's not done right. Have the guy in charge there drive it too so he can see for himself you are not lying.

    Thanks wotz.

So an update , brought the car back to the tracking place on Monday. They went to track it, but called me over to show me some bushings were worn and no matter how many times they track it, it will lose alignment straight away. So anyway I asked if they fix this and how much. Was told to call the boss later as he's away now.

Called the next day but was told to bring it in again so he can give a proper price. FFS.

Anyway missus brought it in the following day and there was about 5 people looking at the car, some saying its the bushings while others saying nothing is wrong.

After awhile of them messing underneath the car, they tracked it again and now it drives alot better!

Booked for NCT for next Thursday, hopefully passing retest!

    Thanks again.
