There were reports in the media about an upsurge in cases in March.

Hand sanitizer doesn't kill norovirus well, which could be a factor.

Had a horrible couple of days last week, extremely painful stomach cramps for 48 hours and constant feeling of needing to go toilet. 2 days laid up in bed and fairly good again.

seems i'm over it - was v shorted lived - Buscopan helped lots - tummy was v happy - sips of water helped too

Generally 24-48hrs for most people. This type of virus seems to hit the market every 5 years or so...

If you have kids it's normally every 12 months you get wiped out along with the entire family. Can be a messy week :-)

I think a lot of the issues these days is because of the amount of disinfectant  we use. Now I am not saying we should go around covered in dirt or not have general cleanliness.

But we seem to spray everything at the drop of a hat. Then when we get a minor sniffle it cripples us.

Especially in kids, let them out and roll around in the muck etc....didn't do me any harm :-)

I think that's a doubtful hypothesis \ lot more nuanced than that and far beyond the scope of this thread, so just to say specifically in relation to norovirus:

Your body may build a small immunity (protection from the virus) to the initial type of norovirus, but not all types. This means you can get sick with norovirus multiple times throughout your life. If you do have an immunity to a type of norovirus, it may not last forever.

yeah covid and all the anti bac agents associated with it have defo curtailed kid's immunity to bugs.. we adults have more of it built up over time..

I was thinking about this at the onset of the pandemic - when people wer flat out anti bac spraying and wiping everything.. I took precautions too but was mindful of not over doing it..

deliberately did not use anti bac hand soap etc pre covid.. the immune system needs exposure in order to thrive

dunno where I picked my wee tummy bug up.. prob a social event I was at on Sunday - and hugs wer happening at an epic rate lol
