Batman books

Hi all

Apologies if this isn’t the right thread to post in, I’m a bit lost.

A friend of mine has recently started reading Batman comics/books.

It’s their birthday soon, I’d like to add to their collection.

Would this be a good choice? They definitely don’t have it.

They’re currently reading Batman: Year One and has The Killing Joke too.

I’ve no idea if there’s a whole series and a certain order - google is just confusing me.

The short answer is - yes, this would be a good choice of present.

It's widely regarded as one of the definitive Batman stories, it has fantastic artwork, and it is self-contained so there's no worry about needing to read anything else beforehand.

Unfortunately, figuring out whether collected volumes of comics are standalone or part of a longer story is more complicated than it should be, unless you have someone to hand who is already familiar with the series or publisher.
