2009 VW Scirocco problem

Lately my car has been having a small loss of power mainly when changing gears. I was thinking a dirty fuel filter or need of a service.

However, this morning I went to overtake and the car power died massively. The engine light and EPC light came on. The engine light went from constantly on to flashing to constantly on. I have a diagnostic machine and connected it to the car.

It showed one code. Cylinder 2 misfire detected.

I have limited knowledge of cars but been a bank holiday I can't get a mechanic today. My first thought was it was potentially the coil pack but could it be as simple as just the spark plugs?

Is it a twin charged 1.4 tsi? Or single turbo?

Twincharged is known for cylinders cracking but hopefully for you it’s just coils or plugs.

I actually had a twincharged with the same faults. EPC light on, engine light on, and cylinder misfire on diagnostic. Can’t remember the cause of it but it was mental money to put right

If you're handy enough this can easily be diagnosed. Swap coils 1 and 2. Swap plugs 2 and 3. Clear the faults and drive it again. When rechecking for faults note what you did earlier. If misfire is now 1 then it's a coil, if it's 3 then it's a plug. If it stays 2 then seek help from a competent mechanic not a forum.

that sounds like a good plan. i will try that. no matter what it is i will get it checked by a competent mechanic but the waiting time for them locally can be long so i just wanted to try something while i wait
