Hmmm, I might have been a bit hasty with my "potential classic" ......

    Ronnie looking dangerously clinical here.

Vafaei can't afford to be making stupid mistakes like he did in this frame - not once, but again when he got in with a second chance.

    Hupp Mark Allen !!

a pressure pot on black gives him frame,,

Stuey come to table 67pts adrift with 75 on. makes a good break of 65 w/o cueball being on the proverbial string,, lands high on pink, leaves thin cut on black, but misses - still needed potting tho

8-3 Allen. Stuey got nowt left in tank methinks

Allen cueing lovely. Potted v good opening red there, after Bingham had been in, but could only manage 26. missed a relatively easy red. not playing well at all is Stu. Allen on 24 currently, and, crucially, still at the table 😎

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

breaks down on 38. plays containing safety into small clusta of remaining reds

all good so far for Northern Irishman :)

Ronnie too clinical compared to vafaei

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

Allen back in shortly after that. gets a little help from gravity with a black, but no mistakes otherwise.

playing like a World Champeen atm, is ire Mark 😁

"Division One" as Arfur might say. clears ye table with a 68 break

    9-3 Allen

tis lookin' onimous nigh for Bings 😃 yeupp Mark 😊 !!

On other table Varfaei had a great chance to capitalise on a Ronnie error - frame 5 but broke down. Can't see Varfaei winning/making it close giving up chances like that.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

    Vafaei missing too many

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

yup - could've lost it at the start. long way to go tho

    Ronnie in boss mode atm

But getting down on a couple of shots too quickly and missing the odd one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,329 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Vafaei has missed a fair number of pots that would’ve fallen under the category of medium difficulty…

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,719 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

But Ronnie is not leaving Varfaei many nice easy openers though. Feels like this fifth frame is a big frame already.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Jayus Virgo talks a great game at times - for a fella that only ever one one tournament over two decades.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

all one way traffic here. Allen down at business end of table, and on break of 38

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

excellent break from MA. don't quite make a century, but it was a great break anyhow.

    10-3. demolition job continues apace

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,719 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

If Allen wins as it looks likely, he plays the winner of Jones v Robertson. I would have Allen as favourite to beat either.

Just when I was looking at the draw If Ronnie beats Varfaei he could have a very tough Quarter Final v Brecel/Williams.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

early on in frame 14, Allen misses toughish red - leaves very little apart from one or two possible long attempts. Stuey throws his cue at one, and misses jaws by about 6 inches. not happening at all for him..

Allen in again - gets lovely split off black into from tightly packed clusta of 11 reds,, currently on 23 pts and cruising

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

breaks down on 37. think he was trying to screw straight blue in, and come off knuckle, but screws white into pocket.

didn't do much harm, as Bingham could nae capitalise. Allen back in ☺️

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

will have far too much for Jak, i'd say, and Robbo not on top form

unlike the other two lads - Williams one of the early favourites, and Brecel playing like one. should be a great match-up: Ronnie/Willo or Ronnie/Brecel.,, be hard to call. can't see Hossein being involved in proceedings for much longer tho 😃

    Vafaei is gone

    No chance here

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,796 ✭✭✭Augme

The old man yells at cloud from Davis in the studio is comical. You'd swear Vafaei shat in his mouth. The break off the in the second frame was ridiculous but that's the inly thing you can fault him foundling this match. He was fuckd either way anyway and never had a chance at winning unless ROS was really off his game.

The way lads in the studio are going on your swear he had a great chance of winning but for that second frame break.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

    11-3 Allen

has won all six frames today has Mark ☺️

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,421 ✭✭✭weemcd

Vafaei talked a good game but has failed to deliver. Fair enough Ronnie has let him in in the seventh frame here but it's all one way traffic.

I'd go as far to say Vafaei can't win this game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,719 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Snooker is a bit like golf in that sense, if etiquette is not followed the seasoned pros go mad. To me it was only Varfaei trying to send out a message to Ronnie. Ronnie did it to him in the German masters, plus Varfaei wanted to show he was going to take him on.

It is not as if Varfaei did what Quentin Hann did years ago thinking that if he smashed the pack at a certain red he would pot one. He kept doing it like an eejit - even in the WC.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

    12-3

Allen in early in frame 16 after Stuey breaks down on eight, and leaves red over pocket

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

    Bingham claws one back

    12-4

end of session it seems. think it's 8 , 8 , and 9 frames the sessions are divvied out, of the possible 25 frames. bit more work to do for Mark

good day for him tho 😊 not sure when he's back playing

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,362 ✭✭✭✭Loafing Oaf

Brilliant snooker behind the green by Brecel, and he looked like was just aimlessly belting the red

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,957 ✭✭✭kirk.

I see the "disrespect" nonsense is in the news again

If vosaei wants to smash the pack every break he's quite entitled to

    Squeaky bum time for brecel

Williams could come back and take it
