I just got offered a position in the Passport Office as TCO, contract is for 48 weeks, wondering what are the chances of contract being extended or being made permanent? 48 weeks takes it up to April next year so start of the busy summer.

Was a TCO last year and was extended for another 6 months but that was after a mad year so may happen - will depend on the demand throughout this year

Thanks for the info, so it's not necessarily a new competition after contract ends, it could be extended, do you know of anyone that got made permanent?

Go for the permanent CO comp around Nov/Dec - it's basically the same as the TCO comp - if you want a permanent Civil service job
