Positive Comments on Referees - Hurling and Football

For club or county, league or championship games, - this is a thread that focuses on the positive part that referees play in hurling and football. This can be a thread that sets a new standard for the treatment of refs during and outside of the game.

The way we talk about refs and see refs in the GAA has to change. Refs bring a lot to our games and we need them.

They certainly try their best, for little or no reward.

Treble double

They are the essential component that allow Gaa matches to exist and continue.

If they have a good match they are anonymous, if they have an off day they are ridiculed, sometimes nationally.

They will never receive acclaim and will more than likely be the recipients of abuse and insults from the faceless herd mentality that makes up the match attendance

Managers and players will excuse their own ineptitude by blaming the referee.

Who in their right mind would perform this role, they are more important to the future of Gaa than any manager, coach or player. So it's time to give them the respect, support and backing they need to continue and prosper
