Moving the OpenEIR ONT

Morning all.

Does anyone know if it's possible to move the OpenEir ONT? It was installed at the front of the house, but my home lab is upstairs. I currently run a 15M CAT6 cable up the stairs, so ideally, I would like to move it. I know it would mean running a 15m fiber cable up the stairs instead, but at least if it's in the lab, it will have protected power through a UPS. So, do any ideas if it can be done?

buy something like this ready made is my advice, fibre cable will never be moved as new full install would be needed.

In general, you're probably better off just dealing with the Ethernet side of it. They're not overly keen on moving those installations around once they're in.

Easily done, you will need to get (as linked) an SC/APC to SC/APC patch cable if you just wanted to run it up a stairs. Completely understand the wanting to have it power on a UPS. If you move the ONT device, should you have any connectivtiy issues down the line, besure to move it down to the orignal spot and then engage with the provider if the issue continues.

In any location which I'm running fiber in a home and I know its not protected, I'd run something better than a standard patch cable. A example on Amazon.co.uk and FS.com.

Do report back what you end up doing etc.
