Local Defense Force in Ireland during world War 2

I am interested in finding out more about the army reserves during "The Emergency" if your grandfather was a member like mine was ,especially in Westmeath you may have some stories. Due the passage of there cant be many surviving members.

My father was a member in Cork. He was the company intelligence officer, if I remember correctly, and had stories about being on manoeuvres and being called out one evening because of a feared German invasion. Wish I had written all of it down. He would have been 22 at the outbreak of the war and I'm pretty sure there are none of his group still alive.
