Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Schauffele on 8 under now, so he's coming with a bit of a run - to keep the rest of 'em honest

    :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

    19 players below par currently

at start of this (third) round , there were 29 players under par

must've made it tougher for "climbing day" hehe

Fowler played "genius" shot (according to comms) from ~15ft from hole, and just off green - in the 'long grass' - on hole 10, a few mins ago - to leave tap in par

"sotc" contender according to chap on comms

don't play the game , but looked a pretty workaday shot to me 😄

    :)

Seems a poor spectator's course, apparently there are several holes that fans can't get near, evidenced there by the muted applause Rickie got for holing an 80 foot bomb

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

    wet sail from Scheffler !

Pitched in from ~86yds (i think) for eagle on 17

holes a ~22ft putt for birdie on the last

looked down and out far as winning comp goes, about 30 minutes ago !!

four off lead now, in clubhouse, at seven under

Rickie still one to the good on 11 under , with Clark and Rory in 2nd and third at one and two shots off lead

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

Clark 2 over from 10 to 17 ... three bogeys, one birdie,,,, tough last nine holes !

Jt second now along with McIlroy - with them 2 shots behind leader, Rickie, who's minus eleven

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

Clark birdies , Rickie bogeys the last.. 2 shot swing leaves it at minus ten apiece, the joint leaders

McIlroy and Scheffler out in 2nd last group later, at minus nine and seven under after 54 holes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,493 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Out an hour earlier tonight at least. Bloody Scheffler going -3 for last 2 holes, some luck!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

he did get a bogey on 16 tho, iirc, so ya could always look at it as only 2 under for last three holes 😃

What time leaders going out tonight ?

Leaders are teeing off an hour earlier tonight around 10.30pm, still looking at around a 3am finish plus a high percentage chance of play-off should be factored if anyone is going to stay up for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

    10.30pm methinks

was ~11.40 in the pm last night the last pairing teed off

was getting a bit dusky last night towards finish of proceedings - 8hrs behind us over there & their "sundown" was at or around ~8.02pm, and they weren't finished until almost bang on that time

should have no worries on that score later on... if ya wanna watch whole thing, you're looking at a ~3am finish 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,710 ✭✭✭Speak Now

Would love to see Fowler get the job done tonight, if not I'd like to Scheffler win having just come up short last season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

wonder will Scottie and his being three of lead help Rory? Chefs might have to push boat out, as unlikely to drop in his lap here.. Will have to take risks to be threatening the judge late on - so perhaps Rory get some ideas/inspiration when playing his shots after the American

just a thought - know nothing of golf tactics; could just as easy go the other way: Scottie not expecting a lot, perhaps, so have carefree approach to the evening, and Rory, possibly, trying to emulate / outdo him, and hayms it up 😋

    anyhoo, Gwan Clark !!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,302 ✭✭✭daithi7

-2 or -3 under is likely to win this for Rory imho.

Having Scheffler in his group is only likely to benefit him imho. He'll be sparked by him right to the finish.

Also having a front 9 where he can make up on the leaders & maybe even get 1 or 2 in front is likely to inspire him.

He's playing great, but he's still just 1 of 5 or 6 players who can realistically win this thing now. I hope he does it!!

    Go Rory!!!

Hopefully Rory can get a few early birdies and put pressure on the leaders.

must be capabillity for serious low scores today - A Eckroat, 6 under for his round so far - thru 8 holes, after just nabbing an eagle in last few mins!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,302 ✭✭✭daithi7

Sounds good, that kind of course should suit Rory

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

hoping for Wyndham Clark win here 🤣 top ten finish be nice for NI man 😃

Some nice scores today but it's worth noting that only 14 of the 56 players who have started their rounds are under par.

I'd love to see Rory winning but from a financial perspective....

Give me Wyndham to win and Scottie top ten.

Now it was a poor tee shot, but some moron fan just picked up a English's ball I think

What is the difference between conflate and confuse?

Confusing something is thinking it's one thing when it's should be something else. Conflating is the idea of combining two things as if the items were interchangeable or connected.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,165 ✭✭✭hayrabit

    I'm confused too 🤣

    'conflate' ?? 'confused' ??

who mentioned either of those two words ? someone on comms perchance?

    😆

Really want to see Rory get it done tonight but Wyndham Clark is a serious golfer. That tee shot into the 4th was top class.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,493 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Savage shot by Clark on 3rd

Clark looking really good so far, tap in birdie on 4. Rickie struggling so far.

great tee shot on par three hole no. 4 by Clark

McGinley having a mare - said Rickie's was good tee off on four, but landed in rough grass beside green 😅

so far, after three and four holes, Rory's only one of leaders under par for their round

    honn Wyndham 😀

Ahh, Rory nearly nailed that. Cracking putt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,494 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

I didn’t think it was possible to have an amazing break and bad luck at the same time, but Rory’s just managed it.

Nearly missed the short one though! 😐️

I assume if Wyndham wins this everyone will be out buying driving irons. Very close to unreal spot on 6

Another beauty from Clark, looks like such a complete player.

Wind picking up, unless scheffler gets 2 or 3 back before the last 6, it's a 2 horse race I think

Fowler is gone at this stage.

Pressure has gotten to Rickie it seems. Shame as it would've been a great story had he won

  • Registered Users Posts: 700 ✭✭✭bamayang

    clark is like a machine.

Clark looks like he's solid and steady. McIlroy missing that birdie now is bad news.

Poor by Rory...he's not making any puts...think Clark might have this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,493 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Bit of a mistake by Clark now...he'll probably hole it from the crap

  • Registered Users Posts: 128 ✭✭zocklie

Advantage Clark, but can see him dropping shots at some stage, just depends what the rest can do.

I reckon if I was putting for scheffler we'd have this wrapped up 😅
