Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    What a goal from Gordon

    2-1 newcastle! flash gordon

    Oh the BARCLAYS

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,510 ✭✭✭tinpib

Wowzers, very similar to Isak. Thought Gordon had delayed far too long Rashford style there, but he got a beauty of a shot away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,262 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

kyle walker looked very slow there getting back then throws out a lazy leg.

both goals similar, from the left and bent around the keeper

Think Bernardo's a bit better alright... David could maybe pull out an extra bit of unexpected creative magic, but Bernardo's still very creative and can do more stuff to a higher level, just a better all rounder.

city are so cynical its unreal but good to see rodri get a yellow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,507 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

Remarkable how similar they are though.

Rodri wound up. Which means Newcastle will milk every challenge here on out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,509 ✭✭✭✭noodler

For all his shithousig I think Bruno didn't mean to stand on his foot

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,640 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

    I think so.

Can do most of what David could do, but a lot more too. Has a real nasty side to him, gets stuck in, and is a really big game player. Pep tried to phase him out a few years ago but has to go back to him.

Rodri getting hot here, he needs half time to cool off before he does something stupid.

What a watch that was tbf

Classic Barclays. City all over Newcastle who then get two chances on the break and it’s 2-1, could easily be 3-1. More off the same in the second half please.

Think David Silva suited the PL 2010-2018-ish era better whereas Bernardo suits the 2018-present era moreso. Bernardo has all that pressing to back up the technical side, and is more versatile.

The modern day player (around midfield & attack) has to be versatile and have more stamina to get through physical games. Lots of the big clubs have players rotating positions and systems mid-game more than they did 10 years ago IMO. The physical games are not restricted to just a Blackburn or a Bolton or a Stoke once or twice a season. It's most teams now that can put the big physical work in, but also have the technical side to play that way too.

Big physical matchup against Newcastle today for Bernando and he is able to handle himself. He can dig in and rough it up, out tackles in and do the running etc, but can also play the nice silky passes and flicks while being a playmaker too. This is a game that David Silva would be benched for, and brought on for the last 20 to try change it.

Very surprised Dan Burn avoided a yellow there, was clearly a cynical foul to stop the attack, in a dangerous area.

What's the point of managers berating the fourth official about decisions that have gone against their team? Is it just tolerated as an outlet for the managers to let off steam?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,262 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

surprised pep tolerates doku so much. he takes far too many touches

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,262 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

rodri should be sent off for dissent

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,881 ✭✭✭✭klose

Passes the ball into the net from 25 yards 🙈

    what a goal by KDB!

And De Bruyne just passes it into the goal from outside the box, that's how it's done.

    !!!

Eddie Howe just doesn’t know how to approach these games. Newcastle are playing like a relegation side sitting back trying to hold a lead for an entire half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,036 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Good goal, poor enough from the keeper to not even get near though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,348 ✭✭✭NITRO95

That is absolutely class from KDB

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,976 ✭✭✭doc_17

Rodri avoids a second yellow for clear dissent just before KDB demonstrates why City are so much better with him in that role ahead of Foden.

Foden is very good but extremely overrated by some

This is an incredible second half performance from City.

    Suffocating.

It'll be miraculous if Newcastle survive this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,881 ✭✭✭✭klose

Resorting to just hitting it over the top to Isak and hope he gets a break

Yea it’s insane. You can’t sit back against City, they’ll swallow you up.

how he hasn’t made a change is beyond me. Newcastle can’t keep the ball out of their half.

I can see Newcastle getting something on the break. City have run out of steam after all their efforts last season. They have a lot of possession but not the threat to match unlike Liverpool who have loads of possession and and equal amount of threat.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,036 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

No changes from Howe feels a bit 'deer in headlights'.

It's not the most inspiring bench to be fair, but could really do with legs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,640 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

They have been good, but it's embarrassing for Newcastle. Just booting the ball, and if they want to execute a low block defence they're making a hames of if. KdB took the goal well, but he got the ball and ran to the end of the box and nobody within an asses roar of him.

Crazy stuff. Newcastle have been shocking for 75 of the 80 minutes so far.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,110 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

I think they are desperate for some fresh legs.

Someone who can at least sprint after the ball or run it into a corner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,262 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

    typical. 3-2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,036 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

    utterly unsurprising.

What feet to score that, and pass from KDB!

  • Administrators Posts: 54,110 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

That’s what you get for trying to sit back and hold a lead for an entire half.

KDB is an all time great playing out in front of us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,640 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

As the first goal, you leave DeBruyne all alone, with no pressure. Just allow him to pick his pass

    Fvckin criminal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,090 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Massive win for City. Could be the winning of the league there.

At 2-1 I was about to post we have a title race !

Thats the match that city win the league.

    KDB is utterly immense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,709 ✭✭✭mobydopy

De Bruyne is just world class, what an impact.

With Haaland coming back in a few weeks, they’ll go on a ridiculous run like they always do in the second half of the season and should win the league

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,200 ✭✭✭Garzorico

Some goal from that young lad. Wow.

8 losses from the last 10 games for Eddie Howe. What a guy.

If he was Edwardo Howe he'd be sacked a month ago.
