Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It is not allowed by UEFA rules so if Chelsea qualify for Europe, they will fail their (stricter) FFP/PSR rules.

I don't think the PL will allow the transfer tbh and will rule it inadmissable.

Fair play to Villa, they are well worth their 4th spot this year. With European football to deal with as well.

I didn't watch the end of the game but I did see the quadruple Liverpool substitutions around the 75th minute and thought I don't know if that's such a good idea. Turns out it wasn't. The result is a academic anyway.

Surprised they could fit any in with all the Tom Hanks ones.

Varane leaving the Utd at the end of the season. Up there with the worst signings of recent times when you factor in his playing time. Keita also springs to mind.

40 million on probably 300k a week. 67 PL appearances in 3 years. Mad to think he is only 31

I think it’s a really bad idea for an appointment. A guy who has spent his entire career as a pure coach (almost no involvement in recruitment apparently other than having some veto power) in one of the most together back room setups, moving into an absolute sh*tshow of a club who are literally only starting their new backroom.

That club needs a guy who can do a lot by himself.

has done well at a club where mid-table is considered success. Like Moyes.

Those guys aren’t going to come in and create anything (for a couple of years at least) close to the super rigid environment that is the only environment that Frank has had any relevant success in.

United need to take a cold hard look at themselves, and realise that they’ve had basically no footballing project in place for a number of years now.

And while they’ve identified the guys they fancy to be able to implement that project, they will absolutely need the kind of guy who can come in and compensate for the lack of that in the meantime. I feel so blessed that Emery has extended at Villa in the last few weeks, because guys like him and Lopetegui are exactly what United need right now.

I think if the right club got Varane, Casemiro, Mount and Sancho they'd improve massively due to getting top performance from them all.

You can't have all those guys who performed very well with consistency just become terrible after a transfer. It's the club that's the problem not the players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,088 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Thomas Frank actually done a good job this season.

Smaller budget than most clubs, bigger injury list to most clubs, mainly to some key players and his best player was gone for half the season + some extra stuff to keep him out of the picture. Toney seems like a bad character overall tbf. Achieved safety early.

But that's his limit IMO, bottom half PL.

He is a good progressive coach. But that’s what he is, a coach. No real experience as a traditional manager, and people always end up shocked when those things end up being completely different skillsets.

In the same way that someone like Harry Redknapp would rock up at Brentford like a polar bear in the desert wondering why he can’t bring in Niko Kranjcar.

    Spurs 1-4 City

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Haaland a little unlucky there, looked quite a 50/50 battle for the ball. Would've been clean through. Dangerous game from Spurs. If you leave that one-on-one battle with space behind, Haaland's gonna win one of them before too long.

I kinda expect a City goal in the first 20 minutes.

    bentancur prob should score there

Good chance created, they need to take them though.

Spurs are well up for this

They look to be playing Russian Roulette with the ball at the back - it's only a matter of time before City punish a misplaced pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,258 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

    good save vicario

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Terrific save after some awful defending - had 1-0 written all over that!

Spurs really don't know the difference between playing out from the back and suicidal football.

    Fine save in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Spurs need to not worry about playing the ball in their own half - get it to the wide men in space in City's half asap, and break. That's where they have the quality and pace to cause problems. Passing it around under pressure in your own half is practically doing City's work for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

There is no way City aren't getting a goal from how Spurs are playing at the back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,296 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

    Pep looks very nervy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,976 ✭✭✭doc_17

According to the Live Score app, City don’t have a single player out injured.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,568 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

Apparently Pep's City have never scored away to Spurs in the league? Announcer said that, but what a mad stat.

  • Registered Users Posts: 531 ✭✭✭Infoseeker1975

Spurs really have a hex on City, going for 5 home wins in a row and are probably the only team that has a far greater possession stat in matches against them, not sure Kovavic is the answer as the weakness for Spurs is at the back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,258 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

a draw does them, and he is playing more defensive than normal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,722 ✭✭✭golfball37

That’s at both versions of white hart lane. City won twice at Wembley the two seasons spurs played them there so it’s a bit misleading that stat.

A draw doesn't do them - would leave them level on points, with Arsenal ahead on goal difference. Would need to score 3 more than whatever Arsenal win by at the weekend…

DeBruyne hasn't gotten going yet at all. Foden not doing much either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,258 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

my bad. got mixed up when commentator was going on about the draw suiting both villa and arsenal - the worst case scenario for spurs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,296 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

No I dont think it does, Arsenal have a better goal difference by 3.

City are there for the taking if Spurs show a bit more composure in the final third.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,258 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

some blocks there - spurs dont wanna lie down and take it anyway

City looking just a little nervy now, instead of firing the ball in first time, they're hesitating and reworking it back around, letting Spurs get organised.

A lot of pressure coming on none-the-less though, will be very hard to hold out, as its only going to get tougher.

That's the first first-half City haven't scored in since the start of April though, good work from Spurs, a few great saves and last ditch defending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

    Fair play Spurs.

    Did not see this coming.

The bravery has actually thrown City a bit so far. Goes to show, teams should at least try to be braver against them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,358 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

As a mostly neutral, and for the best possible final day, I'm begging this to end a draw.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Be amazing, with City knowing they had to go all out attacking to hike up the goal difference!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,722 ✭✭✭golfball37

One of Arsenal or City won’t win Sunday
