Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I heard Man United are going to offer 20million today and then say newcastle are being childish for not accepting.

It looks like Forest selling one of our prized defensive assets for 20 million (Bench mostly, but has been unlucky with injuries)

Selling to Lyon, who also took Mangala off us in January, for 10M loan-free with the option to buy this summer (That is still likely to go through)

Is he worth that, absolutely every single penny😏, or at least until we clear our PSR deficit😉, which it appears it might just do🙂

And if Everton/Villa youth players are worth (10M), then I'm now fully on board with this. We tried to be honest, and fully open last year and look where that got us.

But on a serious note, we did buy him for 11M, he came from Mainz and is a Senegal international, so it's not beyond a fairish valuation.

It also looks like, in July when our funds free up we may take a player back from Lyon, with maybe Jake O Brien (Alongside  Omobamidele maybe, and good for Ireland it they work)

Also means we do not have to lose Murillo for cheap money (Liverpool and Chelsea trying to screw us…all in the name of PSR) and can at least hold out till end of the deadline on our terms…(And MGW)

But what does it all mean for PSR…too many ways around it now, dead in water or changes to come?

Who will get a points deduction this season now…maybe only Leicester (If they eventually submit accounts to someone )

@Iseedeadpixels Credit you for finding this, just borrowed here

Leicester and Chelsea have claimed that their arms were "in a natural position" and "not away from the body".

The PSR deadline day transfers is probably going to be more exciting than any actual transfer deadline day of the last number of years.

PSR really is badly set up , obviously benifits a few clubs, but cant understand how the clubs votes in such, when most are trying to doge it with the swapping , in theory it should be for the better of the league, but its a complete mess, not benefiting clubs, and hindering a few clubs who want to get better.

Nobody in the public really knows what the exact figure that Newcastle are breaching PSR by, so we don't know if Minteh will cover it on his own or not.

Maybe another sale may be sold. Maybe a player that is not needed? To Saudi league perhaps? Callum Wilson maybe?

Welcome to transfer deadline days guys...

Have Sky started live coverage yet🙄

Talks of Anderson for 10M (straight), 35M (Elanga going other way)

And now 35M with our coveted greek goalkeeping flop going the other way for 25M....🧐 ...think we paid 12/15M...

I think that's us done though...Niakhate, Mangala and GK out... Anderson in.(And a few other normal youth real deals we've done)

    Next transfer window opens............

    ... tomorrow 😁

0 caps for Scotland (1 cap for their U21s) but worth 35m… Was there actual hype around Anderson?

Interesting developments around the academies of some of the bigger clubs. The article on Arsenal today has me looking into it a bit more.

Obviously Arsenal were very low down in terms of giving minutes to their academy players last season. To be fair Arsenal do have a young squad, but the only time that any player aged 21 or younger played for the senior team last season was when Nwareni played 14 minutes while Arsenal were winning 6-0 against West Ham. Arteta even said that he wasn't going to play the kid until the senior players convinced him to. I'm aware Saka is an academy graduate now but it was also his 5th full PL season, so hardly a fleeting prospect, and then players like Emile Smith Rowe, Nekitah, Reiss Nelson seemed to always be on the periphery and/or not involved.

As a result, a lot of academy players seem to be leaving Arsenal this summer as there is no pathway for them to the first team, or their pathway is being blocked by an incoming transfer. There is a host of players around the 18-21 age group that have left Arsenal this summer now. Now of course this could be because they are not of the level required but one of those players have signed for Brighton and we know what their talent ID is like.

It's somewhat similar to what happening at Chelsea. They seem to buying every Brazilian 18 year old possible, but at the same time there are numerous academy players leaving. What is their plan? Where is their development plan? They can't all get enough game time and coaching time to develop. Given the numbers of players that have left the Chelsea academy at a young age, and gone on to have strong careers, I still don't understand why young players go there in the first place. Ex Chelsea teammates Musiala and Olise will play together at Bayern Munich next season. Maybe the appeal is that playing for Chelsea will highlight you and get that move then? Chelsea seen to sell their academy players to fund foreign purchases to aid their FFP accounts now.

Similarly Man City, seen to be trying to pick up some quality youth players but their path to the first team seems to be blocked completely now, but because they play for Man City, their profile is raised. Foden aside, there hasn't really been a consistent starter to break through under Pep in the last 7 years. Cole Palmer left to play first team football, with a lot of others leaving to go play for Southampton instead. Rico Lewis & Oscar Bobb were on the periphery this year but it's early days yet for them. I'm sure there is a financial appeal here too. Again, like Chelsea, Man City seems to be using academy players to balance their FFP accounts.

Man Utd have always had a commitment to playing academy players engrained in their club to be fair to then, and always seem to have some sort of local forward coming through the ranks. To have players playing first team football every year in some record, especially when the likes of Mourinho have been manager for a few years! Even if Mourinho did stunt their development of a couple academy players. There's been 1 or 2 players promoted every other season to the senior squad which shows that there is a clear pathway, even if it might be shortlived and there are mass purchases under every manager.

Liverpool have committed to trying to Hoover up some of the best English academy prospects around the 15/16 year old age group again, before committing to finishing their development but crucially also giving them game time in the senior squad. There's plenty that fall under this category in recent years. Harvey Elliott, Trey Nyoni, Ben Doak, Bobby Clark, Kaide Gordon, Callum Scanlon, James McConnell have all moved from other PL / similar level academies in recent years and gone on to play a lot of first team games. Stefan Bajectic picked Liverpool over Man Utd for this reason and Conor Bradley did the same after being on trial at Man Utd and Southampton.

Plenty of local players are making their breakthrough at the club too, such as Jones, Danns, Quansah, Koumas etc while overall Klopp handing over 42 players their senior debut while he was at the club. 56 different players aged 20 or under made their Liverpool debut under Klopp so there is a clear directive there to give younger players first team football at the club.

Ryan McAidoo (16) saw his development path blocked at Chelsea so decided to leave this summer. Liverpool & Arsenal wanted to sign him but he picked Liverpool over Arsenal because of the path to first team football before Man City swooped in at the last minute to sign him.

Another Chelsea prospect Rio Ngumhoa (16) also decided to leave for the same reasons, and he went the other direction to McAidoo as he picked Liverpool over Man City because of the number of academy players that ave signed for Liverpool and made their senior debut at the club. Wolves player Alvin Ayman (15) made the same decision picking Liverpool over Man City.

Max kilman to west ham for 40m

Non-league maidenhead apparently got 25% in a sell-on clause, sorted the club for years

Wolves renegotiated the sell on clause. it was reduced from 20% to 10%, which means instead of getting £8m, Maidenhead received £4m. It's a massive difference to Maidenhead, but spare change to Wolves which is poor form.

Maidenhead didn't have to negotiate and I assume they came to a decent agreement to buy out the reduction.

Might be something in the background where Wolves have agreed to send a player on loan for a few years. A higher calibre of player could help massively in a promotion push.

This is what the Maidenhead United chairman, yes, Peter Griffin, but not "that" one said -

"I would like to congratulate former Maidenhead United player, Max Kilman, on completing his transfer from Wolves to West Ham and wish him every success for this exciting next stage of his career.  It is no great secret that when we sold Max to Wolves in 2018 a sell on clause was included within the transfer agreement which the club will now benefit from over the coming few years.  Over recent days there has been a lot of speculation regarding the sell on clause and the amount of money the club will receive. As you would expect commercial confidentially prohibits me from providing specific details about the sell on clause, however, we were engaged with various parties during the negotiation process for Max’s transfer. We reached a mutually agreeable position that all parties are satisfied with and importantly it is in the best interest of the club.  Ultimately this is a fantastic outcome for club which will benefit from one of the largest, if not the largest, transfer payments an English non league club has ever received, which is something to celebrate. This is testament to the hard work of Alan Devonshire and his coaching team past and present, as well our Academy programme which every year is developing players which move into our first team squad.  This is a momentous day for Maidenhead United FC, which gives us the opportunity to profoundly change the future of the club. A supporters meeting will be held in due course to give more details on how the cash injection will be used on and off the pitch."

I presume they got a larger upfront cash fee than they would of on the original %. It's a lot of money for them either way and great to see them benefiting.
