Opening new entrance to sitr

Looking for info on how to go about opening up a new access into a piece of land. Opening out to a secondary public road, is planning required etc. No building or other changes being made, just need to tidy up the site. Thanks

If the surfaced carriageway of the road is more than 4 m wide (and it almost always is) then you need planning permission to open an entrance to the road (or to widen an existing entrance, for that matter).
