Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Avoid the East Link / Tom Clarke

Hi, I had to get back to the southside from IKEA today and took the Dublin Port Tunnel as I wanted to avoid Croke Park traffic today (Sunday)

I didn't mind paying €3 for the tunnel but no way was I paying €1.90 for the East Link on a Sunday, what a rip off.

Does anyone know if there is a legal way to go from the port tunnel to say Irish town without taking an illegal left or right turn. Seems a joke to build a beautiful new bridge and then not want people to be able to use it (to preserver the fares on the East Link no doubt)

I was looking at the following but don't think it works:

Turn right onto Sherriff St Upper heading southbound @ Yahoo

turn left on to New Wapping St but then I think its trams only on Mayor St so you can't go up that

    any advice gratefully received

    Well you could go

    Tunnel to North Wall Quay

    right onto Park Lane

    left onto Mayor Street Upper

    left onto Guild St

Over the Samuel Becket Bridge and head from there

But myself I'd not worry about the €1.90 if it missed out all the messing

You can use Google maps to help you navigate legally.

I believe it's been done as council owns both east link and new bridge so they want to keep their money and keep traffic from heading towards city blocking up streets around the theatre.

I typically made the illegal turn but I have 1/2 price tolls as an EV so don't bother that much and it's rare I go that way these days. On quieter days I'd avoid the tunnell too and go into town heading from Swords to bray via city centre if the M50 was a disaster. It typically takes around the same time as M50 in rush hour.

Would you have paid a 5er for the tunnel?

You'll probably use 1.90€ in fuel trying to find a way around it. The charge for it is comically low

€1.90 is cheap to drive across a bridge that should be free?
