judging by NCR webcams there’s already queues down the street for the Ticketmaster box office van

Btw - price of food was MENTAL!

Yeeeez, lads get nachos and guacamole, we have sour cream here.

you will love it! Have a great time. I would go again tonight if I could 😀

That's good compared to what I've seen at other venues. Burger, chips and a mineral for €15 isn't outrageous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭TheIrishPC

Nothing will beat the €15 I paid for a 330ml bottle of Coke in Venice with my dinner last week…

whats the story with re-selling back to TicketMaster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭TheIrishPC

I think like 24-48 hours before any concert they won't let you put it on resale. You'd have to transfer it to someone else and get them to pay to.

You don't sell them back to Ticketmaster. You can list them for sale again on Ticketmaster and someone may buy them. You shouldn't have any trouble trying to shift them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,227 ✭✭✭ShagNastii

Haha I listened to their new stuff last week and couldn't place where I heard/hear Charlie Brown. Thank you for highlighting Pat Kenny. Penny has dropped.

Ya agree with that . I thought they really rocked out hard on that tune, was more used to the album version.

I was oblivious to the wristband thing (bit out of touch) - the light effects for the first 3 song blew my head off, it was blistering. Everybody with illuminated wristbands makes the whole band/audience thing feel very connected.

Phenomenal show for me coming in on medium expectations. Got quietly sozzled in a corporate suite for the first time so that helped too.

Well pleased with the support acts too, Maggie Rogers felt country rock which was not what you would have expected

then they tweeted it again. apparently no tix at box office. anyknow get lucky?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 170 ✭✭LastApacheInjun

Resale appears to have just closed on Ticketmaster.

I don't really understand why they close it. Maybe they don't have the technology to stop people from reusing tickets once someone is already in the grounds?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,421 ✭✭✭✭stephenjmcd

Ticketmaster also telling people not to come without a ticket.

From someone nearby sounds like the Gardai are telling people to leave. There's no tickets at the box office

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,939 ✭✭✭flasher0030

I have been trying ticketmaster today. Got suspended for a while, so I was out of action.

But I didn't see one single ticket coming up on Ticketmaster. Anyone else see anything?

I've given up the ghost at this stage. Unless anyone here needs to part with one last minute.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 170 ✭✭LastApacheInjun

I saw one come up at €391 earlier, but I didn't click into it so I'm not sure it was actually available.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 170 ✭✭LastApacheInjun

One full price ticket at €156 is showing there at the moment, but it's not letting me click into it.

Word about 'tickets on sale from the Ticketmaster Van' must of got out with the messages of 'no tickets available at the venue' all over FB

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 360 ✭✭giseva

The pass the phone back trick at the turnstiles and cause blue murder when the poor operator says you're not getting in as the ticket has already been scanned so they'll just let you through was apparently in full effect over the last few nights.

I understand people might be desperate and with FOMO playing it's part but that carry on boils my piss. I have to say the I thought the security in general were lacking.

The security in Rome were like the gestapo but there were no bottle necks, no crush risks as if you didn't have the right wristband in a particular section you were moved on, and they were strict on the vapers too.

Somebody was smoking a joint in front of us on Friday night 😃 I had half a mind to ask them to pass it round if they were going to light up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,015 ✭✭✭Fanirish

yeah cause hundreds of people were queuing at Croker and Garda had to push them back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,814 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Traffic very heavy on the motorway, only passing Amazon now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭TheIrishPC

The steward in front of me said he hates the company running it, the worst he's worked for. This was the first thing he's worked at where the security guards were all required to lock their phones in a security pouch so they couldn't record anything while on duty. Also I'm pretty sure a security guard went missing, as he suggested someone just took off their bib and merged with the crowd. The people in charge were frantically looking for them before the gig started.

Admittedly it did cross my mind that I could use my wristband from Thursday and attempt to sneak in, but I'm not an arsehole to actually go ahead and try it.

Lads what an absolute stomping gig last night. If I'm to nitpick, felt there was a slight lull in the middle to the point that when Clocks kicked in, it felt low key. But it picked right up after that.

Very few bands can deliver what coldplay can to such a large audience. It's a spectacular show … but means nothing if you don't have good songs and a great frontman.

A lot of the set seems top heavy to their later albums which is what you'd expect. I counted 2 songs from Parachutes and 4 I think from AROBTTH. Regardless it was absolutely epic. I saw some comments earlier about people not enjoying it. You'd have to be the ultimate cynic to not have felt any joy leaving the place.

Oasis won't be a patch on this next year unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,471 ✭✭✭Mrs Shuttleworth

It's a spectacular show but it's largely a frothy easy listening pop show with balloons, confetti cannons and lasers and it's not for everyone. Not fair to call anyone cynical not falling 100% at its feet. ACDC were outstanding in the same venue two weeks ago; I was very cynical going into that and they certainly wouldn't be everyone's taste. You can't possibly say that Oasis won't be as good next year - just different.

Coldplay fans will love tonite's show, hope the rain holds off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,482 ✭✭✭Jaffa3000

Someone at Ticketmaster really loves telling everyone there’s no tickets left for tonight lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,176 ✭✭✭stargazer 68

Think they will have a special guest tonight as its the last show?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 406 ✭✭SoundOfSilence

The oasis comment is based on past experience but genuinely hope I'm wrong. I've seen Coldplay numerous times too and they've always delivered.

Coldplay gigs are well known to have all those bells and whistles. You could see them on any number of videos across social media sites. It begs the question, if you had that opinion of them, why bother going to see them? It's clear you don't like their music.

heard people just were walking in over the weekend, security is hardly that lax?

might have been picked up on now judging by the social media today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,911 ✭✭✭kala85

Lads any tickets for sale today at all?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,973 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

No, that's nonsense. I'm sure the odd person snuck in with sheer good fortune but en-masse? No.

Pitch B/C had to go through a turnstile entrance that was only opened by an agent scanning tickets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 360 ✭✭giseva

I saw the phone pouch thing at the stage runway. Some security guard tried to pull a fast one and was trying to keep hers, she had a headset so seemed to be maybe in charge of that section, but the double checker security guard wasn't having a bar of it, God loves a tryer😅

I was lucky enough to get the opposite side of the stage a few weeks back and security there had their phones out from time to time. 2 lads were absolutely tore a new one in Italian as they did just that, removed their vests and tried to blend in at the edge of our section, before CP came on. I had 2nd hand embarrassment for them as they put back on their vests. Surprised I've not seen footage of their bollocking doing the rounds online.

Chatting to a girl doing security on the Thursday between support acts and she had a similar view of the security crowd.

Unrelated, but told us about an experience she had doing a gig for James Arthur where security were instructed that under no circumstances are they to look at him or attempt to make eye contact with him. My missus, being a fan of his, was surprised at that. That wouldn't surprise me. I'd absolutely say that's his carry on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,471 ✭✭✭Mrs Shuttleworth

Very simple answer to that: I go to a lot of gigs and festivals and have been converted to an act on many occasions after seeing them live when previously I wouldn't have given a toss. History of the Eagles at 3Arena in 2014 is the best concert I've ever been at and I didn't care for any of their songs beforehand.

A work colleague kept raving how amazing Coldplay were live and I heard them note for note from my garden on Thursday so I fought to get a ticket for Friday. It was "grand". A lot of unnecessary bells and whistles though and the songs didn't seem to be any more powerful than the studio recordings which I expected.

It's in the zone of Robbie Williams/Take That/Harry Styles stadium concerts rather than the heavier acts and if that's your thing it certainly delivers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,480 ✭✭✭showpony1

Giving up hope now anyway :D there were a few on ticketmaster fri night just before but gone too quick.

haven't really had a sniff of a ticket since then! if there happens to be anyone in the thread that can help me out let me know.

Hi folks - just wondering out of curiosity —> Did anyone who has been in Pitch A or B get their tickets through the Genera Sale, or did these seem to be kept for the presale? I only ask, as I was fortunate enough to get mine (for Sunday night) through the original artist presale and could NOT believe my luck at how close to action this location felt. It’s a de facto golden circle , I think . An absolute privilege to have been at the show anyway . But as stated, I just can’t get over being so close for the mere price of €111 (before fees I think) . So yeah, was that the trick then - that presale people got rewarded with the ‘front ‘ standing tickets? Sorry if any of the above sounds w@nky or braggy!! lol.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,562 ✭✭✭Peckham

Mine were presale tickets, and I was Pitch C.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 360 ✭✭giseva

Had early entry pair of tickets, missed out on presale, 250 each. Pitch B.

Looked up pitch B on Gigsberg the next day and a pair were going for nearly 3k so I don't feel too hard done by. The hard part is getting tickets in the first place but I'm not sure what the solution is in terms of fairness. There were people in that stadium that paid a reasonable amount for tickets, sat or stood beside some who paid obscene amounts.

I know people who paid 600 for 'premium tickets', and they couldn't have been further from the stage😅

Extorted for the tickets, then robbed again for food and drinks. I love Coldplay and I had a great time but my God it would be nice to go to a reasonably priced concert of any artist and pay for a drink that is actually full, not half full watered down piss and nearly 20 quid for a scaldy burger and a few chips. But I think I've more chance of getting a time machine back to simpler, less greedy times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,175 ✭✭✭mobby

Basic economics. A case of supply and demand. If people didn't pay or go to these events then the price would be cheaper. But that's not the way of the world.

I was 4300th in the presale queue, got to the front and Ticketmaster crashed. Paid €300 for a resale early entry pitch ticket 2 months ago which is the only time I saw a pitch ticket for sale, and I've been checking regularly for the past year. Most resale tickets which went up that I saw for for the €400+ VIP packages to be seated far back in the stands. You got very lucky. In 2017 I had your ticket (general entry pitch ticket) which I paid €90 in person from the soundest guy off Adverts, and I got equally as close to the stage then as a result. It is luck of the draw amongst Ticketmaster's ever growing greed for charging for tickets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 360 ✭✭giseva

It's greed. And it doesn't just end at concerts. Hardly a supply and demand issue with a pair of the trainers or a football jersey, but go to your local sports shop and look at pairs going for €200. And a jersey is close to a hundred these days. Which brings me on to house prices, nevermind gold, I need to put my money into bricks 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,973 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

I loved the show but laughed to myself when he thanked everyone for coming the other night saying among other things "I know the tickets were expensive". I was like, my guy, that was down to you 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 406 ✭✭SoundOfSilence

Well congratulations you can stick it to your work colleague now. You only had to seek out what i can safely assume was an expensive ticket to the gig of a band who's music you don't like to do it. Mrs Shuttlecock 1 - Work colleague 0!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,041 ✭✭✭griffin100

I got 2 standing last August after someone posted on this thread that there were standing tickets available on TM. They were €111 each inc fees. They ended up being Pitch B. It’s for tonight’s gig and my wife and daughter are at it, they just sent me photos and they’re unbelievable close to the stage.

Could hear Christy Moore being sung about 20 mins ago. Now it's yellow. Drat, gutted I didn't go now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 835 ✭✭✭RonnieL

On Friday night I saw a good few legging it past the permitter security, and then heard the lady at the turnstile saying they were having problems with people pushing through as they let ticketed customers through the stiles. I'm not a frequent Croke Park goer, but I got the sense the locals have the security weaknesses well sussed!

  • Moderators, Regional Abroad Moderators Posts: 2,374 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nigel Fairservice

Saw them in 2017 and 2022 for saw them for the third time last night. It didn't disappoint. The show is a spectacle. Very fond memories of Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head so was delighted with the few songs from those albums.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 398 ✭✭smilgy

This (parking at Connolly station car park, quote didn't work) ended up working very well. Would have left near last as had to pick up some merch, got to the car and drove straight out, across the liffey. No traffic!
