The Triax sr110 is a satellite only box and nothing to do with Saorview. Chances are there is a cable going directly into the Tv from a conventional aerial somewhere. Most likely there is a problem with that aerial or its cable. Either water getting in or the aerial moved / broken.

Thanks is there an aerial you’d recommend- I see indoor options? Also is there an alternative box to the Triax and one you can record on?

Indoor aerials are only suitable for very strong signal areas. This site will help you find where your local mast is. https://saorview.ie/en/check-coverage/ Indoor aerials work best near a window facing the local mast. Don't get conned into buying anything that requires power to work.If the signal isn't strong enough for indoors then no booster/amplifier will help. RTÉ always recommends an outdoor aerial. If you think it worth a gamble buy a cheapo indoor UHF aerial from your local Eurostore and try that. If it doesn't work then no big loss.

The Zgemma H7S is the most popular combo box here which combines terrestrial (Saorview) and satellite into one box. It offers merged channel list(s) in any order you like, full 7 day EPG, recording functions and series linking etc etc. HOWEVER it does require a bit of initial setting up and very occasional maintenance if a channel moves to a different frequency. It may not be suitable for older folk if they are not comfortable with tech. The other alternative is to use a FreeSat branded box which is plug&play and auto-updates. However this is only for satellite channels so they would still need to use the TV for Saorview and have to switch HDMI inputs to change between them.

Either way it should be noted that BBC (and presumably others) will cease broadcasting in SD next year so they will have to upgrade their setup anyway.
