Are you sure about the monthly cost as I think it's €59.99 PM not €49

Either way if you could afford the extra up front you'd save €330 over length of contract if you pay €849 upfront but reduce monthly fee to €39.99. Only issue is 20gb data limit which is plenty for me.

You’ll very likely get the one set for the 25th, on the 22nd. The same thing happens to me every year. It says the Friday when I’m adding to the basket and then the Monday based on the delivery address. Always shows up on the Friday launch day though. They’re just overestimating by a day due to the location I’m in.

Does anyone know what last year was like for walk in availability in the likes of Select(Compub), Harvey Norman etc?

I have a preorder with a date of October 2-9, but might chance a few stores next Friday to see if I can pick one up.

Or is there much chance of that delivery date getting moved forward?

Does anyone buy from Harvey Norman on launch, do they get stock normally? I have €300 on a gift card I'd like to use.

I really didn't want to get stuck in a contract again but gadget envy took over

I got a date of Sept 25 for my 512Gb Pro Max blue version. I’m hoping I’ll get it Friday but I’m in a rural area so god knows. Was a bit torn whether I’d upgrade or not. My 12 Pro Max is still feeling fairly fresh. My iPhone 6 was in its last legs when I upgraded to the X but they’ve improved so much now that even those a few years ins are still very capable. It’s the camera upgrades that swing it for be and even sim, only just.

I had a look online just now to see what availability looked like for 15 Pro 256gb in blue just out of interest. A delivery date of the 17th of October was surprising.

I thought with the little upgrade on the model there wouldn't be too much demand this year.

I have a 12 Pro but don't feel any reason to upgrade this year anyway. Maybe for the battery but that would be it.

looking at Murphs table above, i could end up switching in January rather than upgrading on Vodafone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,860 ✭✭✭ablelocks

ditto, i had Caudabe cases for years on a variety of phones, but got tired of them - although i do have a screen protector and a leather skin on the back for grip

For those not in a massive rush to have the phone on Day One, it is cheaper to buy in the UK, for example buying from Amazon:

    iPhone 15: £799 = £818.97 (Irish VAT) which is ±€938 vs €979

    iPhone 15 Plus: £899 = £921.48 (Irish VAT) which is ±€1054 vs €1129

    iPhone 15 Pro: £999 = £1023.98 (Irish VAT) which is ±€1170 vs €1239

Roughly saving the price of the case to put on it.

I go caseless too with AC+ to fall back on if needed. I usually buy a case and try it for a few days but never stick with it.

This is how the titanium looks after usage 😬

On Apple's website, dates went sky high, so walk-ins seem like a way to go now 😀

It seems like the last year you could get it without a problem if you weren't picky about the colour or size.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭Marty Bird

I order the titanium black 256PM and I got a delivery of the 25th too, you reckon I’ll get it on the Friday ?

Ordered the pro max 15 with apple care. €1700 yikes. Defintely not using a case with this one. Bit annoying that 256gb was the minimum as I don't need massive device storage so its an extra expense.

    Early October delivery.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,235 ✭✭✭FourFourRED

If you live somewhere that isn’t very remote you should get it Friday. The same thing happens me every year - Killarney town. It happens to a lot of others too. Can’t promise it of course but that would be my educated guess

I saw someone mention Humm in here earlier this week so had a look at Harvey Norman to see how much they're charging to use the service and it's very expensive. I think I'd rather a Revolut or Credit Union loan than that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,808 ✭✭✭rizzee

The thing about Humm is that you can pay it off early and make lump sum payments with no fees. You're really only paying the original application fee (€10/€15) and then a couple of euro account fee per month (€2/3). I use it at least once a year, pay it back in 2-3 months instead of buying the phone straight out up front.

Got the 128gb Pro Natural Titanium. Pleasantly surprised when HN made them available online at 12:50 yesterday :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,191 ✭✭✭uncle_sam_ie

Apple still hasn’t taken the money out of my account. Ordered on Friday. I’m just wondering does it come out when they ship?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

Missed the live stream as I was working.

upgrading from a 14 pro to a 15 pro max for a few reasons. I’m an iOS developer and I use an old 11 pro as demo phone, I need something newer so the 14 pro will take that place. I travel a lot, not having to take lightning cables with me. I love photography and the extra zoom on the telephoto lens is interesting enough for me to try. Also titanium being lighter will make the upgrade to pro max a little easier for me in terms of weight.

I found it funny in the keynote that apple got the usb-c change out of the way very quickly, didn’t spend a huge amount of time on it. It was sort of buried in the great updates to the iPhone 15, which on paper is a really great phone for the price. Same main and ultra wide as the pro, same camera sensors, dynamic Island (which I think will get more support this year from developers now that it’s on the base model).

one thing I am surprised about is that there isn’t much uproar over usb-c change yes I know it’s finally time for it and I think it’s a overall net positive it seems like there should be more uproar, can also imagine the articles if they didn’t do this year all the “lighting again?” Articles.

overall I think it was a decent launch, certainly if I was an ordinary phone user I wouldn’t go 14 pro to 15 pro, but if I had anything 13 pro and below it would be an instant upgrade

Ordered from Harvey Norman yesterday (and apple Friday, will return whichever comes last) - I generally try and get the new model ASAP so the sell to swappie prices haven't dropped by the time I get my old phone sent to them. Got an email from HN today saying "Unfortunately we're experiencing a delay of approximately 7 day(s) with the following items of your order: iPhone 15 Pro Max| 5G | 256GB | Natural Titanium | MU793ZD/A. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you."

Hopefully that means 7 days as in delivery 25th rather than delayed into October!

    Good luck with it

im hanging onto the 14 pro max for another year,

    apple eco system is savage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 871 ✭✭✭pedatron

I'm the very same. I never just pay the monthly amount and try and get it paid off quickly in 3 to 4 months to avoid the extra costs! I think Humm offers 36 or even 48-month payback cycles which you'd be absolutely insane to sign up for!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 871 ✭✭✭pedatron

I'm the same. Hoping the delay is just the week in between the preorder and the phone release. I'd imagine the system isn't really used to anything being pre-ordered normally so is recognising the week gap as a delay rather than an actual real delay. Going from a 12 to a 15 pro so excited for the upgrade.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,584 ✭✭✭irishgeo

Your the reason for the delays and out of stock messages. Total greed buying 2 and then returning one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

Oh yes he’s solely responsible, such greed ordering two phones out of the like 50 million that’ll be sold on opening weekend.

he’s the reason most popular models are now shipping 6 weeks. And this is the first time this has happened due to his greed

    how very dare they!

Apple Silicon Case came this morning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,466 ✭✭✭ibFoxer

@rizzee Funnily enough I was just about to order the 15 Pro 128gb yesterday from Apple and I thought I'll pop onto boards and see what everyone else is doing- saw your post and said for pig iron I'd see what Humm would say. Got an email back this morning to say go for it and after looking it over, I can afford to buy the thing outright but I tacked on AC+ and new Airpods and will see it out over the course of a couple of months.

I had a few euros set aside for it but being able to spread it out over time meant I bumped the storage too. The quicker I pay it off the less fees and interest etc and I have the extra bits now instead of a month or two. Thanks for the heads up on that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 946 ✭✭✭daraghwal

Just cancelled the Apple one because I mistakenly ordered a pro instead of pro max. Reckon they’ll move the launch to Thursday now with all that surplus stock! 😝

  • Registered Users Posts: 150 ✭✭Fwarder

You can also go to the store and get only certain amount on Humm.

I went to the store and I'll only "finance" 499e because there's 0 fees with it. Not sure even why I financed those 499....probably for the sake of keeping the money on the account just in case

I was too busy last Friday to get an order in on Apple's website and by the time I got around to taking a look, the shipping dates had slipped to November.

But on Sunday I walked into Select and paid in advance for a 15 Pro Max, to be collected on Friday morning. So that's kinda cool. Now need to see how much I can get for my 14 Pro Max.

(Yes, I know I didn't need to upgrade, but I work hard, earn enough money to afford it, don't drink or smoke and enjoy tech, particularly iPhone photography. Anyway . . .)

What's the best option for shifting a second hand phone? My 14 Pro Max is in mint condition, has had a case and screen protector on it since day one, but even with normal daily charging, the batter health percentage is down to 91 per cent. That seems like a lot after one year?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,006 ✭✭✭Marty Bird

CEX are offering €890 for a 14PM or you will get a little more on adverts, most I’ve seen are between €950-€975. I normally sell mine on adverts every year but the wife needs a new phone so I told her she can have my 14PM for €850 as I know her 🤣

Depends if you prioritise max price or least hassle.

Best option is sell it to someone you know.

Best price is sell it on adverts.

Least hassle and quickest is bring it to somewhere like CEX.

If I manage to find one of these on sale in France or Spain while I'm travelling for the next few weeks, is there any difference compared to the Irish model?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,740 ✭✭✭corks finest

Sell the 14 p max private

    avoid cex at all costs

theyll come up with every excuse to give u way less than what u will get privately,

they tried it with me ref a 12 pro max yet I sold same phone on adverts for e200 more a few days after their ludicrous offer,

    also don’t trade it in

    you’ll lose big time

    ( only advice)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,740 ✭✭✭corks finest

    none afaik

The CeX prices for iPhone 14 Pros seem very high indeed, I would expect them to drop in the coming weeks once any supply of 15s comes in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,740 ✭✭✭corks finest

    Sell high

    buy bloody low

Has anyone used Swappie for selling their iPhone? Prices there are from €960 to €1075 depending on condition for an iPhone 14 pro max 256GB

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 3,783 Mod ✭✭✭✭eeloe

I've used swappie a few times.

zero issues, once your honest with your description, you'll have funds in a few days.

  • Registered Users Posts: 150 ✭✭Fwarder

I actually had great experiences with them. Everything I had went as 'A' l, and the only time they "downgraded" my guess was when I really haven't seen that I had a solid scratch on the glass and a frame of the watch. The guy at the counter was really upfront about it. Then it went from their A to B rating...5e of a difference.

But yeah, shop around for selling your phone.I did that with every single phone I sold. Tried CEX, swappie, adverts and trade in. Trade in option was usually the worse one for me.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,316 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Apple trade in prices are a joke, definitely don't go with them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,924 ✭✭✭squonk

Yeah for a company that spends so much time in keynotes rattling on about recycling and the environment and green things in general they really should be offering a fair price for trade ins. It just shows really that it’s bit so much about environment as bottom line in Tim Cook’s Apple now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,740 ✭✭✭corks finest

I’d one cex employee ( grand parade Cork) dissing my ‘A’ rate Google pixel watch

    and 7 pro

    both boxed

as new condition - silver/ white

    receipts etc -

yet went to Cex Blackpool, Cork city 30 minutes later and the manager there practically dragged the same items off me,

no qualms whatsoever giving me maximum pay out for the watch

and max trade in against Apple Watch 6 in silver for my Google Watch ,

after trade I told him of my horrible experience in their other branch ( including your wan trying to pass off a ‘c’ Apple Watch 6 as ‘A’ rated , and her attitude)

    he couldn’t understand it,

    he’s gained a customer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,740 ✭✭✭corks finest

Best bet is sell privately ,

buy with an Apple employee discount if possible,

( I did it this way for my sons iPad for college)

was lucky enough to buy a 14 pro max silver256 gb off a guy on adverts in Cork who I previously bought from

    phone was 5/6 weeks old

got it for e1050 or less

    i was lucky

adverts can be a pain but worth it in my experience

sold plenty and bought a lot through it

    reviews are worth checking out

Preparing For Shipment since Friday for me as well. Delivery date of Monday 25th. I think that might be spot on as I would be surprised if it arrived by Friday if it was shipped after today.
