Calculating dogs next heat cycle after puppies

Hello My friends young dog had an unplanned pregnancy and she is trying to establish when the dogs next heath cycle is due so that she can avoid it happening again. Does the next 6/7 month cycle beging after the birth or is it after the puppies are weaned. Having the female dog spayed is not an option. Thanks

After the birth but it can differ between breeds, size and age.
