https://www.businesspost.ie/news/developer-moves-to-block-fast-track-affordable-home-scheme-in-dundrum/ This is behind a paywall but you can get the jis of it, a property developer doesn't want possible the most valuable site in Dublin to be developed for affordable housing. Objectors are taking planning objections to the Supreme Court for the very slim chance the planning will be overturned. There are dozens of planning issues held up like this.

so should there be a cut of a point where the issue has to be finished, say 2 years, and no more objection or taking it to the supreme court after that?

Can't really get the "jist of it"

Why are they blocking? what are they planning on building instead etc etc

At the moment in Dundrum loads of houses are been blocked by the locals for all sorts of idiotic reasons.

If you look at the history of most objections to planning, eventually the planning goes through so all going to the supreme court dose is cost money and delay the processes. The objection to the Dundrum site seems to be motivated by not wanting hundreds of social and affordable houses on a very valuable site.

I know the history of planning. Normally you have a political party in the background delaying the project as well. Just wondering why you picked this specific case? as mentioned many many more houses/apartments getting blocked in DunDrum and all over Ireland by local residents that don't want houses built but at the same time are crying because their children are having to move home

    Idiots

I only pick that as an example because it's been in the news. Any group thinking of going to the high court, or using the habitat of some rare nettle or whatever to stop planning should have a look back at previous campaigns in their area they nearly always fail in blocking planning.
