Quick question, can you sub an air rifle for a .22 rifle i.e. is it classed as a like for like substitution. I realise that it will depend on the Super, but in theory are they the same as subbing one rifle for another?

Basically yes.
Unrestricted, rifles, small bore, bolt action (I'm assuming).
Doesn't get closer to the definition than that.

Yep, bolt action .22 rifle instead of a PCP .22 air rifle.
It is my cousins son who already has a licence in his own right for the air rifle.

Done it quite recently with no issues
.22 lr to a .22 pcp
No RFD needed either, just fill in the substitution section of the FCA form and submit to local Garda Stn
