Hi, stange one here and hoping for some ideas, we were with Kbc, when they were leaving the market, we changed to An Post and told kbc to close accounts, we changed everything over direct debits etc, assumed that was that, we then got credit cards from bank of Ireland, despite never asking or signing anything with them, sent them back and said we didn't want them, didn't ask for them, didn't apply for them, signed nothing with your bank, they have refused to close accounts saying we owe them the duty on the cards, and it must be paid before it can be closed.

Won't listen to us telling them we never asked for any products from them ever.

We have wrote letters, rang them with no luck. Any idea of what we can do now.

I can't believe that they can just sign you up and charge you for something you never asked for or used.

At a guess I assume that you had KBC credit cards and that they were transferred to BOI, which is what happened with most people as far as I know. So if that is the case, then it comes down to instructions you gave KBC in closing your accounts and what acknowledgement you have from them. Do you have copies of this?

We wrote to them to close all accounts, nothing was in arrears. Don't remember ever getting any acknowledgement from them though either.

We wrote to them to close everything well in advance of them closing up.

Write a complaint letter to Boi outlining what you have said there and ask for a final response letter so that you can go to the FSPO if you are not happy with boi's response

Well either the letter was not specific enough or it was over looked. Make a copy of your letter of instruction to KCB and send it with a letter of complaint to BOI. Hopefully that will sort it out.
