Ferraris are gonna DNF eachother here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

I'd say Ferrari would be quick to calm them down if Charles was currently in third.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,028 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

That is way too close from the Ferraris

    What a race!!!

6th is still there for Norris

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,498 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

3 or so laps for Albon, Norris and Alonso to stay within 5 seconds of Hamilton.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

3 laps to go I am currently team Sainz.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,934 ✭✭✭stesaurus

Those 5 second penalties really should be forced to be taken in the pits. He's destroyed Piastri's race and gets away with it basically.

Yeah be gutting if he misses out on the podium. Leclerc sat back all race it feels like.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,498 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Hamilton going to do just enough to get that 5 second gap.

  • Registered Users Posts: 548 ✭✭✭MaddChris

When's the last time they showed Max on camera? 😆

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

    Charles Charles Charles.

Did he not get that radio message?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,498 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

10 of the best for Max.

    Out on his own.

History in front of our eyes.

A great battle between the Ferrari’s.

Hamilton doing better than expected until the penalty is applied.

Max demonstrates yet again that he is the GOAT!!

Monza normally a boring race but that was not bad at all!

    Madness from Le clerc

The champ champ bossed them all again. 10 on the bounce. Not looking forward to the podium boos though.

Stroll in the park over the radio to Max there.

Which coincidently is what Lance was doing Today at the other end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,710 ✭✭✭✭walshb

    10 in a row!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,399 ✭✭✭KillerShamrock

    F1 is in trouble.

Good racing for the first 14 odd laps and good racing behind but if this continues the sport is going to lose viewers worse than the vettle domination and the hamilton domination. its not racing if its not fighting for 1st and there is no fight.

Sainz is mighty impressive defo deserves it and shows Ferrari are backing the wrong horse with Leclerc who is overrated imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,498 ✭✭✭recyclops

That was a great race for a Sunday afternoon. Great to watch Max really is in the form of his life with a car to match.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,196 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Yeah, 5 second penalties don’t take into account how important track position can be. There should be a drive through penalty for causing a collision, so that the driver loses track position and has to do the overtake again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,194 ✭✭✭McFly85

    Found that hugely enjoyable!

Max in a class of his own, plenty of other action across the field though!

Great drive from Perez, good battle between the Ferraris and Alex Albon was heroic considering he was struggling on those tires!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,148 ✭✭✭mr_edge_to_you

Leclerc isn't as smart a driver as the 3 drivers ahead of him.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,498 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

F1 is doing better than ever. Periods of domination are a part of many sports. They come and go, proper fans always stay around so let the casuals come and go.

Anyway back to the race, those 5 second penalties are worthless at this track it seems. Happy for Sergio today and Sainz ofc. Sainz driver of the day with all that defending.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,498 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

That’s some crowd for the podium! Say it’s a great atmosphere.

Penalties need to be an either/or

If the driver doesn't take a Pitstop and serve a penalty then a 1 place grid penalty the next week or something.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 12,603 Mod ✭✭✭✭2011

That is some of the closest racing in F1 in quite sometime. Fantastic stuff and not just one driver. Perez, Carlos, Leclerc, Max and Hamilton were all fantastic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Once again Max is able to call that the replay he had justs een of LeClerc lockingn up was on the last lap. He takes it all in 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,498 ✭✭✭recyclops

I don't know you'd nearly want to dislike the sport if you aren't loving what Verstappen is doing and achieving and care more for Netflix drama.

His dominance is incredible to watch if you like seeing people at the top of their game, it's a joy and pleasure to witness it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,178 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

"max went so slow on the last lap, because he was watching tv" 😂🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,893 ✭✭✭Hijpo

How many times does Hamilton have to destroy another drivers race with stupid moves. We have this carry on until 2025, yippee.

He has the race craft of a blind child in a tank.

    Iconic podium at Monza.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,399 ✭✭✭KillerShamrock

Well i dont like max or red bull just like a lot of people here dont like/hate lewis, so this is bad imo, I dont wanna watch 1 team win every race one driver win all but 2 in a 23/24 race season dont care for dts so dont care about the "netflix drama" either.

Race was better than most not a classic but better than most of the season.

with the exception of stroll i would take anyone on that grid to win bar either of the bulls

Fair play to Lewis for taking the blame for the coming together with Piastri and apologising to him.

Watching the replays of Sainz battling with Leclerc - great hard racing that. Really impressive from Sainz! He seems to be doing much better against Charles this year? Or that’s the impression I’ve gotten. Don’t think Ferrari has the car to catch Merc for best of the rest.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,498 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Ted Kravitz just said he’s Irish? I didn’t know that. 😳😁

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,446 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Enjoyable race, especially the battle between the Ferraris. Somebody mentioned earlier they if the positions were reversed then they might have called off the fight, which I tend to agree with. Sainz took his opportunity though, he's been super impressive all year in a poor car.

Even though he finished 2nd, this shows the gulf between Perez and Verstappen. The second that the red bull isn't all conquering then you would have to expect Perez to be put of that seat.

When's the earliest Max can win the title by?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,178 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

i think i read somewhere, the earlies t he can win the championship is suzuka.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Max can clinch it at suzuka but needs a Perez no score for that to happen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,148 ✭✭✭mr_edge_to_you

The reliability levels this year have been phenomenal. Best I can remember in recent years.

Not sure of that's a good thing or not but credit to the teams.

Maybe they should award points down as far as 12th. Would give Alfa,Haas,AT something to fight for

Another solid race like most have been this year. Not a classic like Zandvoort which saw the most overtakes in an F1 race in history, but you can’t have that every week.

Max serene once again despite the Ferrari having more one lap pace, he knew he could nurse his tyres and strike later in the sprint. Great job harassing Sainz into a mistake that allowed for an unorthodox move coming out of the first chicane, since the Red Bull just didn’t have the straight line speed for the standard overtake into turn one.

10 in a row is an utterly remarkable record, especially in such a competitive season where other teams are regularly as fast as Red Bull or very close to it at many circuits and conditions. Imagine if Max ever got a truly dominant car under him like the sorts we’ve seen for most of the last decade.

I was fortunate enough to follow the entirety of Michael Schumacher’s career from start to finish and I never thought we’d see his like again, but with each passing race you have to think more and more that Max is on that kind of level and it’s a privilege to watch.

Good racing through the field too, great effort from the Ferrari guys and it was nice to see the team didn’t majorly screw up for once. Maybe not the smartest choice to race each other so hard to the end but as a fan it was great to see.

Always nice when they get the DRS just right which I felt it was here. Overtaking should be difficult and almost every move was just that, good hard clean racing throughout the field almost without exception. With a more powerful DRS you wouldn’t see guys like Albon being rewarded for dragging cars up above where they should be because overtakes become a walk in the park, not to mention the racing between the Ferraris and Red Bulls, so it was nice to see a lot of hard racing like that.

They do need to look at the five second non-penalty though. Too easy to take a rival out with a reckless move when you’ve been struggling to make a clean overtake which we’ve seen a few times in recent races, or a bit of a new one this race of taking a shortcut during a vital pitstop undercut phase to avoid being held up, knowing the five seconds will be pretty meaningless by the end. If you do something that warrants a penalty, it really should cost you more than you gain.

Roll on the next one. Singapore couldn’t be more different to Monza, I suspect we’ll see Aston and McLaren back up at the front and it could be another pretty epic race like last year.

Sad to see Toto belittling Max winning 10 in a row

Absolutely Disgraceful and petty comment from Wolf. You can clearly see RB and Max are eating him up inside. The man has aged 20 years in the last two. Another night without sleep Toto.
