Decommission

Hi,

Would anyone know if it's possible to decommission a rifle?

I would like to continue to hold on to it without having to renew firearm license.

You can deactivate a firearm, however.

You need to export it to an EU proof house to get deactivated to the current EU spec, nearest of which would be France post brexit, and then import it again.

A lot of hassle and money, assuming you can actually find a courier/dealer who'll export it for you and a proof house/foreign dealer to send it back.

And after all that you still need an active authorisation to import it and possess it, which lasts only 1 year but doesn't cost anything.
