    I have multiple cranks in the recall batches. Haven’t done anything about getting inspection as seems to take months.
    just keeping a closer eye on them for any dodgy signs.
    Definitely should have been a full recall. Pushing pain down to consumers. Next groupset will not be shimano

    They seem to be handling it better than Shimano in that there's a automatic replacement rather than the dealer messing around with fluids looking for faults. If the dealer doesn't find a fault right now, who's to say that the bonding won't fail after more miles/weather. It would be difficult to have confidence in a crank that falls into the potentially faulty category but passes the test at present. I have two cranksets with the dealer. I was told that both had failed the tests but now apparently one is ok and won't be replaced. I can't in good conscience sell it to anyone either so I'm stuck

    Called CSS today for an update, bike is in with them exactly 12 weeks, still no update on when I can expect the replacement crankset, 😢 . They have absolutely no intention of putting pressure on Madison UK. Utterly frustrating, and I've 2 winter bikes to go in for inspection, don't want to leave myself short on bikes if I drop them in.

    Well I was that rider, in that I passed inspections (I didn't put pressure on to replace in fairness to LBS) and during yesterdays vets race I heard creaking. On inspection, it's very obvious now despite being fine before. Pulled the trigger on replacement 105 cranks so I'm not without my only race bike for weeks/ months.

    Just an update on a bike I left in LBS back in mid Feb, received a text today to say bike was ready for collection. Brand new Ultegra crankset FOC, had requested a new chain, cassette, cables and brake pads

    Picked bike up and took it out for a 40ish km test run, running very smooth 👌

    Finally got my last crankset back today. Apparently they'd been sitting there for a while but no-one had thought to let me know. All good in the end I suppose but I'm disappointed with Shimano as I've got another crankset that may or may not be ok and my LBS have definitely lost customer focus since being bought over.

    I've 2 winter bikes to be left in, but thinking of offloading one so not sure what to do with that one. Suppose it's a better prospect of offloading with new crankset presuming it fails.

    It'd very much depend on the purchaser. To my mind, it's not that big a deal if the purchaser keeps an eye on the crankset. They don't normally fail all of a sudden so the risk of injury is very low once they're aware of the potential for failure and keep an ear out for unusual noises and give it a visual check regularly. Replacement will be free if the crankset does eventually fail.

    That said, a new crankset will make the bike more saleable but it'll probably be October before you get it unless the process speeds up.
