Oil Stove - No isolator valve - Nestor Martin

I recently moved into a new house with a nestor martin oil burning stove in the living room. Tested it out and couldn't get it to shut off when turned back to 0, the flames actually seemed to start increasing in size, so I turned off the valve out at the tank. Should there be an isolator valve beside the stove for safety and for use as a part of the shutdown process? Or do they generally take a while to turn off?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for someone that services these? Will a general plumber / heating contractor do or is it more of a specific specialist role?

Just to follow up on this in case anyone comes across it with a similar issue:

Having not been used in a while there was apparently the likelihood of a buildup of oil and carbon residues in the pan and this is why it kept burning.

Gave it a good clean and ran it again and it run responds properly to the switch.

Getting a shut off valve installed on the fuel line beside it in the house anyway as a safety precaution.

A remote acting fire valve would be a worthwhile addition when you are at it.
