A half dozen unguided rockets launched from Gaza into Israel sets off air raid sirens for the first time in months and doesn't even hit anything, and this is front page news. Meanwhile. Thousands of bombs and tank shells destroy Gazan lives and homes every single day, and there is nobody there to report on them (because the Israelis are banning media reporting of their war crimes)

Well we are always hearing about this "right to defend themselves" ……. perhaps the Western countries should start helping them and arming them like it does with Ukraine against its invaders and would-be colonisers

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,161 ✭✭✭zerosquared

Ukraine didn’t resort to raping and kidnapping of civilians, but you know that already (something Russians have done with the level of barbarism that would make HAMAS blush)

Nor were they the ones to have started a war.

Don't be disingenuous! It was the first time in four months that the sirens went off in one particular area, Tel Aviv. Plenty of rockets almost daily in the south and of course from the other shower in Lebanon.

A war sounds like something you do with another country.

Depressing. Right-wingnuts in the US trying to garner attention to themselves by slagging Ireland and showing pictures of family members of Irish politicians. None of this, apparently, is a problem for Twitter.

Fun fact of the day for those with their heads in the sand. Israeli jails are full of kidnapped Palestinian kids who looked the wrong way at an IDF soldier. And their (IDF) reputation for rape and sexual assault is unparalleled in the modern world.

Most normal people tend to like to see the bullied standing up to the bully. Let the West arm the Palestinians the same as they will arm Ukraine. Let the Israeli orc invaders feel some of the pain they are fond of inflicting on others

Yes but you are very clearly demonstrating that you don't know the difference between innocent children and Hamas. They are silly questions, the innocent children in Gaza are starving and dying. Do you think the children are firing rockets?

It must be a very dark place down the rabbit hole where you get your "fun facts".

The "most moral army in the world" at it once more I see

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,123 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

The truth may be inconvenient for some, but it is the truth nonetheless. If it makes it more palatable, they can keep their heads in the sand and remain in denial. Findings of genocide are on their way. It will take a few years but they will come.

This is an account I follow that tracks Op Sec for the Ukrainian war. They've been viewing footage of the aftermath of this strike.

"… And their (IDF) reputation for rape and sexual assault is unparalleled in the modern world..." That statement of yours is so very far from the truth as to be pitiable.

Absolutely horrific scenes coming out of Gaza tonight. Israel is an evil terrorist state.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭blackcard

It doesn't like like the 'precision strike' that the IDF are claiming

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,120 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Given that this atrocity happened 'after' the ICC and ICJ decisions, the regime seems hellbent on confirming it is a pariah state.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,907 ✭✭✭Wolf359f

Those blindly defending Israel will follow the usual path:

It wasn't the IDF, it was HAMAS, possibly a failed rocket.

Ok, so It was the IDF but it was HAMAS fighters, not civilians.

Ok, It was civilians, but there was a single suspected HAMAS fighter in the crowd.

Ok, it was all women and children were killed, but there was HAMAS under the camp in a tunnel, perhaps a command centre.

    And so on and on.

It has to be a hard task to constantly defend war crimes and genocide.

The amount of psychopaths commenting on this atrocity on social media with Israel flags in their bios. You'd wonder what it is about the Israeli state that attracts the support of every full blown lunatic in the western world.

Edit: I strongly suspect racism is a major factor in all this. Every racist, bigot and white supremacist in the West is on board the Israel train.

I am utterly horrified at what's happening in Rafah tonight. There are no words for this monstrosity. Israel are beyond evil.

    It certainly doesn't.

"The IDF said it had targeted Hamas militants with precision weapons.

Hamas-run authorities said 35 people had been killed and dozens injured at a camp
for displaced Palestinians north-west of Rafah, away from recent
military operations in a designated humanitarian safe zone.

It said women and children are among the dead.

The death toll was likely to rise as search and rescue efforts continued in
    Rafah’s Tal al-Sultan neighbourhood about 2 km (1.2 miles) north-west
of the city centre, a Palestinian Red Crescent Society spokesperson
quoted by the Associated Press news agency said. "

The filthiest regime on the planet imo supported by the Biden Whitehouse with weapons and equipment to enable this genocide.

So now racism has meaning again?

That like anti semitism was a phrase that had "lost all meaning" when it suited.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,564 ✭✭✭✭Akrasia

Such an appalling attack. Was it in retaliation for the rockets aimed at Tel Aviv?

Deliberately murdering women and children in the most painful way imaginable as a response to Hamas causing inconvenience to Israel. That's about what we've come to expect

ICJ say Israel must stop the offensive immediately. They don't, so what now?

so much disturbing pieces of information in this article, and almost identical to how the Israeli government run their military.

    • revenge is justified no matter how many multiples of casulties
    • Innocent victims don’t count
    • Revenge must be in the form of multiples of deaths and property destruction
    • Our revenge / ancient Jewish doctrine overrules all laws and moral standards
    • we can be selective about adherence of our own sabbath if we have a better chance of killing the enemy
    • We will be protected by the Israeli justice system
    • Bully all Jews to obey the movement

Aid groups react to strike of Rafah

Aid groups say they are “horrified” by an Israeli strike on tents housing displaced people in the southern city of Rafah that has left at least 35 people dead.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) said dozens of dead and injured people were brought to a trauma stabilisation supported by the group.

The aid group said in a post on X:

We are horrified by this deadly event which shows once again that nowhere is safe.

Israel orders Spain to stop consular services for Palestinians from 1 June

Israel’s foreign ministry said it had told the Spanish consulate in Jerusalem to stop offering consular services to Palestinians from 1 June over Madrid’s recognition of a Palestinian state.

The ministry said that Spain’s consulate in Jerusalem is “authorised to provide consular services to residents of the consular district of Jerusalem only, and is not authorised to provide services or perform consular activity vis-a-vis residents of the Palestinian Authority”.

Israel’s foreign minister, Israel Katz, said in a separate statement that “today, I implemented preliminary punitive measures against the Spanish consulate in Jerusalem following the Spanish government’s recognition of a Palestinian state”.

“We will not put up with harming Israel’s sovereignty and security.”

“The prosecutor of the court has been strongly intimidated and accused of antisemitism, as always, that everyone does something that the Netanyahu government doesn’t like,” Borrell said.

“I think that the accusation of antisemitism against the prosecutor of the international criminal court is completely not acceptable.”

We are outraged and heartbroken by the recent attacks in West Rafah, where Israeli fighter jets launched eight missiles at makeshift shelters housing internally displaced persons (IDPs) next to Unrwa warehouses stocking vital aid.

These shelters were supposed to be safe havens for innocent civilians, yet they became targets of brutal violence. Children, women, and men are being burned alive under their tents and shelters.

Israeli airstrikes that killed 44 Palestinian civilians evidence of war crime - Amnesty International

The international criminal court should investigate as war crimes three Israeli airstrikes that killed 44 Palestinian civilians, including 32 children, in the Gaza Strip last month, Amnesty International has said.

“The cases documented here illustrate a clear pattern of attacks over the past seven months in which the Israeli military has flouted international law, killing Palestinian civilians with total impunity and displaying a callous disregard for human lives.”

That's just a glance at what's happening today.

I wonder if anyone here thought they'd ever go against Amnesty International, Doctors without Borders, the ICC, and the ICJ in the space of a week, while supporting a country that threatens severe consequences against Ireland.

It's a fast and steady descent into depravity and an inhuman lack of empathy.
