40 people died because Israel wanted to make a declaration to the world that it has no regard for what the likes of the ICC or ICJ have to say. That's about it really. A sick and disgusting country.

so you are victim blaming. The people killed had nothing to do with Hamas.

Haven't seen any claim that the rockets on Tel Aviv yesterday came from that tent camp area. Israel claiming it went after senior Hamas commanders who had gathered in the area of the camp and killing two named what a lot on here would term "very productive" senior commanders. Always remember a poster on here in the early hours of October 7 attacks wrote "credit where credit is due". Seems the brave commanders were, as is their wont, hiding among the displaced and exhausted families. That said, Israeli completely in the wrong here. Should have left the taking out of the commanders to another time, another place. The dark of the night, the vulnerable tents, the high density, no water for the inevitable fire. God help those poor families. Hamas could care less about them. Hamas depending on feeling safe behind the women's skirts and international pressure. Israel, so deeply shaken by Oct 7 and its own ongoing political morass, has to somehow find a way to caring more for Palestinians than Hamas, Iran and the whole of the Arab world.

No Israeli killed as many innocents in 1 day as Hamas did on October 7th. There haven't been many Israeli men going around raping Palestinian women or dismembering or burning-alive Palestinians.

If Palestinians actual were being persecuted then why were so many of them jumping for joy on that day and also on September 11th 2001?

After a suicide bomber blew himself up in the Sbarro restaurant in 2001, Ahlem al-Tamimi, who drove the bomber to the target, was smiling afterwards.

    Actual victims don't support Hamas.

So is your argument that because the Israelis have killed more innocents but not over 1 day that they are somehow better than Hamas and this should somehow absolve them of this crime? If they kill 50k innocent will you still support them because they are taking so long to get to that figure?

Do you use the same logic in other conflicts?

'caring more', they are literally mutilating children and burning them alive

If Israel Nuked Gaza with their biggest warhead, they'd kill all of the remaining Hamas commanders. In what Israeli supporters would probably defend as a 'precision strike'

So you aren't able to. As I thought. Continue on

The worst part of that is that they would probably get away with it.

The US have no balls to sanction the Israelis especially in an election year. The Israelis are just going to keep going until they themselves decide to stop under the guise that anyone who condemns them is "anti-semitic" - round and round we go.

The usual mob defending the indefensible for the Zionist regime.

The only thing is they are burning their bridges with most western countries. Lobe oks like the EU have faith with them and Macron is openly telling them to stop the slaughter.

The US are a lost cause. Netanyahu may as well be their President at this point.

The entire strategy of Hamas is to trade the lives of their own people in the hope that Israel will crack and lose their resolve.

The only logical option is to organise a surrender to stop the further loss of life. Unfortunately that's the last thing Hamas will consider.

Why would they surrender? At this stage it looks like they may survive the conflict and Israel is only making themselves weaker on the world stage. Do you honestly believe Israels current strategy is working,?

Isn't it mad that a random poster on boards.ie understands perfectly Hamas tactics of tricking and forcing the IDF into murdering Palestinian civilians, yet with all their supposed sophistication and intelligence services and technology, the IDF are powerless to stop Hamas from tricking them into committing these atrocities. All the people that they have there as so-called professionals and not one of them can think "Ah hold on lads, lets not fall for that trick again when we actually don't want to be doing the oul' murdering and maiming of tens of thousands of innocent men, women and kids………"

New Recruit: "Hey Captain, how about we tackle these fellas the same way we would as if there was a suspected terrorist cell in Tel Aviv. Like you know, we probably wouldn't flatten all the buildings full of civilians in a 500m radius if that was the case"

Captain: "What, and lose our resolve to murder and maim as many innocent arabs when we have the chance"?

Or maybe the Israelis just stop the indiscriminate bombing of civilians. They have well and truly made their point at this stage and yesterdays massacre should be the end point in all this.

The Israeli ambassador in Ireland Dana Elrich who is currently in Israel having been recalled is threatening Ireland that Israeli investors won’t invest in tech in Ireland due to the Irish government’s recognition of Palestine.

The USA and the UK need to grow a pair and start standing up to this disgusting Israeli regime. The world must act in unison and turn on this Israeli government, issue sanctions against them, treat them like Apartheid South Africa. They should be thrown out of the Olympics, thrown out of international football and every other international sport. Hamas of course an equally despicable regime but the idea that this Israel government thinks that they can threaten us with pulling investment or whatever needs to be firmly rammed down their throats. This is just the beginning. Turn the screw on them until they start to behave themselves.

I'd forgotten about that. I got impression the threat to Israel was coming from elsewhere than Gaza now?

(Unless media reporting on it have this wrong) it is first rocket fire deep into Israel Hamas has managed for a long time.

IMO, that would have made it somewhat significant. I'd say it is likely Israelis had tabs on any Hamas leaders they targetted for a while (Gaza must be the most surveilled location on the Earth), just decided now was a good time to do the trade of killing some random "animals" to get the Hamas members as response to the rockets.

It certainly sends a strong message to likes of the ICJ, ICC etc. as well (f-ck you, f-ck your statements, your "laws" etc, we do what we want!).

Nonsense. You don't think Israel's going to care about sanctions? Or that, if in fact they happen, they'll happen in a timely way?

Hamas could return hostages and surrender. That could happen in a few days. Much faster solution.

So, Ireland can bluster but Israel can't. Good to know.

Total in that last attack has risen -

"At least 45 people have been killed,
including women and children, in an Israeli air strike on a camp for
displaced Palestinians in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, the Hamas-run
    health ministry says.

Videos from the scene in the Tal al-Sultan area on Sunday night showed a large explosion and intense fires burning."

You must have missed my question on the last page. Do you think Israel has the right to commit war crimes because Hamas hasn't surrendered?

  • Registered Users Posts: 876 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

Netanyahu says deadly Rafah airstrike a 'tragic mishap'

Benjamin Netanyahu has described the deadly Israeli airstrike on a camp for displaced Palestinians in the southern Gaza city of Rafah as a “tragic mishap”.

“We are investigating the case, that is our policy,” Netanyahu said in a speech at the Knesset on Monday, Haaretz reported.

The Israeli leader added that “for us, every uninvolved [being hurt] is a tragedy,” it added. He claimed the incident occurred “despite our best efforts not to hurt them”.

Tens of thousands of tragedies. You'd think one might change tack after the first ten or ten thousand.

They're really taking the piss bombing people in tents and then saying they made an effort not to hurt them. If this was any other country, they'd never get away with bombing hospitals and refugees to get a target. Sure wouldn't anywhere in America be a valid target if any soldier was out shopping or at the cinema.

  • Registered Users Posts: 876 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

What Israel is arguing is the equivalent of saying this hospital ship is completely valid target for a country at war with America. Their logic is you could sink the ship as long as you kill a Colonel.

I have no idea how the world is standing by and being fooled into this entirely new notion that you can bomb whatever you want in order to get a target. The rules are being thrown out and now the ICC and ICJ have lost all purpose. This hypocrisy and rules that only apply to enemies will have repercussions lasting decades.

No one has the 'right' to commit war crimes. Was someone granting them this right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,075 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

Al-Tamimi is retconned into just an innocent journalist these days I'm sure.

  • Registered Users Posts: 876 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

Do you approve of Israel's use of war crimes in its fight with Hamas since they haven't surrendered yet?

Until Hamas surrenders, neither Hamas nor Israel should commit war crimes.
